An updated version of the new jv16 PowerTools 2006 released. The updated version contains the following changes.

  • Fixed another bug that caused the Registry Cleaner to never finish. The bug occurred only with certain registry structures and therefore affected only a very small number of users.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Registry Cleaner sometimes not to list all found errors.
  • Fixed a bug that caused certain types of data not to sort correctly in the File Tool and Backup Tool.
  • Fixed a bug from the Duplicate File Finder that caused it sometimes not to detect certain types of duplicate files.
  • Fixed a bug from the Directory Finder which caused it to report the number of analyzer directories wrong.
  • Fixed a bug from the Disk Wiper which caused the tool not to work with certain system configurations, for example the wiping of free space didn’t work properly if the drive had more than 2 GB of free space.
  • Fixed some other minor GUI problems.
  • Added the first, unedited version of the Complete Handbook of jv16 PowerTools 2006. The final version of the handbook is released within a few months.

There is no need to update if you are happy with the version you are currently using, none of the found bugs are in any way critical.

The new version’s version number is 1.5.2.337. After downloading and installing the new version, please open the Help > About window to verify you are running the latest version. Some browsers tend to cache the installation file and therefore you might not receive the latest version but the same old version you have previously downloaded.

You can install the new version over the latest version of jv16 PowerTools 2005 and over any previous versions of jv16 PowerTools 2006.

The updated version is free for the license owners of jv16 PowerTools 2005 and jv16 PowerTools 2006. License owners of jv16 PowerTools 1.4.1 can purchase an upgrade license to the new version with a discounted price of $5.95 from here.
