This is a release candidate version of our upcoming, next generation jv16 PowerTools. We are releasing this beta version to ask for your feedback.
Changes since the last beta version (build 1024):
1) Fix: The user interface flickers and resizes oddly.
2) Fix: The program can become slow and unresponsive if a result list contains more than few thousand items.
3) Fix: The program can show an Integer Overflow error message.
4) Fix: Software Uninstaller can list software with unusual names, such as Microsoft 549981 C 3 F 5 F 10.
5) Fix: Software Uninstaller can list some Windows related applications as third party apps, even if they are clearly builtin Windows apps. Mainly affects Windows 10
6) Fix: The width of the left navigation panel can be too small to fully fit all the tool name texts.
7) Fix: Select All Except One option is also visible in Find All's result screen, while it should only be visible in the Duplicate Finder results.
8) Fix: Select All from the main menu does not always work.
9) Fix: Opening Duplicate Finder will incorrectly move the active page selector in the navigation panel to indicate that the Finder would be active.
10) Fix: The results list of Finder may incorrectly display the Duplicate ID column, while it should only be visible in Duplicate Finder's results.
11) Fix: Software Uninstaller can incorrectly detect a software's uninstaller as its main executable.
12) Fix: Opening a tool can cause the program main window border to disappear for a few seconds.
13) Fix: In some screen resolution and screen size combinations it is possible to change the size of the program window to be so small, the left navigation panel gets empty.
14) Fix: Duplicate Finder can get stuck at 99%.
15) Fix: Clicking Help > Support does not do anything.
16) Fix: The Buy Now, Give Feedback and the top right corner window buttons can be shown in incorrect order.
17) Fix: The left navigation panel icons are not always centered when the navigation panel is minimized when a tool is open.
18) Fix: The program can display an error message about Range Check error.
19) Fix: Internet Optimizer can now be run in systems with VPN or software firewall. Before, the feature would refuse to run. Now it only shows a warning message in a case VPN or software firewall is detected.
20) Fix: The number of items per filtering item does not update if the filters and search words are used together in the tool result lists.
21) Fix: The top right corner buttons now have the same color as the top bar, and the same height as the Feedback button.
22) Fix: The filter panel area of the UI in the tool results may not be correctly initialized at the time the tool opens.
23) Fix: The dashboard's CPU and RAM listing of running apps can continue to list apps even after the apps are no longer running.
24) Fix: Some debug logs are correctly created but their file handles are never freed. This causes them not to be included to the Debug Zip file.
25) Fix: The left navigation panel icons can get scaled too big in some screen resolutions.
26) Fix: Finder, Duplicate Finder and Task Closer do not always honor the Global Ignore List.
27) Fix: Task Closer and Settings window's tabs are not properly sized.
28) Fix: The tip message after saving a result list to a file is incorrect.
29) Fix: Software Uninstaller does not always detect the software uninstaller key from the registry, even if one clearly exists.
30) Fix: The Ignore List is not always fully honored in Finder.
1) Improvement: The main user interface and the Dashboard are now much smoother.
2) Improvement: Added support for two more Select By Column options to the Select and Right Click menus of the tools.
3) Improvement: The progress of adding data to screen is now more accurately displayed. Before, it started slow and then jumped to 100%.
4) Improvement: Software Uninstaller can now better detect additional data relating to installed software.
5) Improvement: The program is now more compatible with large resolution screens, such as 4K displays.
6) Improvement: The program now starts with less flickering, and also the switching between tools is now smoother and less flickering.
7) Improvement: Duplicate Finder now runs much faster.
8) Improvement: Changing the program window size now works much smoother.
9) Improvement: The dashboard's data refresh date is now defined by the overall system status. In the case of high CPU usage, the dashboard will be updated less often.
10) Improvement: The dashboard now looks better also with very small screen resolutions.
11) Improvement: The buttons are now better sized. Before, a tool's Close button could be wider than the main action button, even if the action button had longer text.
12) Improvement: The number of selected items is now updated much faster.
13) Improvement: The program now generates better log files in the case of an internal error.
14) Improvement: The user interface will now inform you if you try to search data with a search word ignored with the Ignore List.
Known Issues:
1) The Dashboard may display the "Welcome to jv16 PowerTools" text even after System Cleaner scan has been completed.
2) Running the System Cleaner a second time can still find items not fixed or cleaned by the first run.
3) The bottom panel selection counts do not always update for long result lists unless you click the list.
4) The translation file does not contain all the new texts yet. The language interface will still change, so we do not recommend updating the translations just yet.
5) Sometimes after the program starts, it can have a high CPU usage for up to 10 seconds.
6) Software Updater can report incorrect versions.
How to update:
If you are using any recent jv16 PowerTools (5.0.0.x) - simply install the new version over the old version. No uninstallation is required or recommended.
If you are using an older version, please uninstall it before installing the new version, or install the new version to another directory. As you might know, jv16 PowerTools also support automatic updates so you should get the update also automatically. However, there is a designed delay in this process (in order to avoid every single installed version of the program downloading the same file from our servers the same time), so if you wish to update to the new version right now, simply download the file from the link above and install it.
