Startup Optimizer slows startup on Windows XP Pro SP3

G'day Folks,

I am running jv16 Power Tools X Platinum VIP License v4.0.0.1517 on a Windows XP Pro SP3 (Workstation Sys03)

The system is fully updated with the latest Microsoft Updates, note I said "Microsoft Updates" and not windows updates.

Internet Security is BitDefender Total Security 2015 also up to date (I'm an agent for BitDefender)

The issue is that since running "Startup Optimizer" on Windows XP Pro SP3 (Workstation Sys03) it slows the startup to 24 minutes, whereas it was 4min 25sec before I ran the "Startup Optimizer"

The "Run": parameters (about 90% of them) now have an additional entry before the individual Startup Applications "C:\TST\jv16 PowerTools X\StartupOptimizer.exe" E.G. (C:\TST\jv16 PowerTools X\StartupOptimizer.exe "C:\GPH\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Acrobat_sl.exe")

As my Startup Applications are extensive for this Customer Support Workstation, the whole system and it's functions have slowed down considerably and has become intolerable.

How do I undo the "Startup Optimizer" so called optimization and remove the additional line entries of "C:\TST\jv16 PowerTools X\StartupOptimizer.exe"?

- Is there a tool or function in jv16 Power Tools X that will undo the line changes ?

- or do I need to manually modify each Startup Applications individually to remove the "C:\TST\jv16 PowerTools X\StartupOptimizer.exe" line entries ?

Help ASAP please.

Roger,

Please ZIP the entire Backup directory found inside our product's installation folder and send it to us as described in the support ticket reply that was just sent to you. Since this archive may contain private information about your system structure, please do not post it publicly (do not link the archive in question on the forums). This would provide us more technical details of what has happened and would help to solve the problem.

In the while, please try to disable Startup Optimizer from jv16 PowerTools X by going to "Speed up my computer's startup" and clicking on Disabled and applying the changes (Apply) to confirm. Once this is done, please let us know if the 24 minute startup time persists (this sounds like a huge time to wait for your system to start - are you sure this is the case?).

Hi Roger,

I am sorry that it took us so much time to realize what the problem was in your case.

To disable Startup Optimizer, simply access the tool inside jv16 PowerTools and switch it from Enabled to Disabled for all the automatically starting processes that you no longer wish to have delayed from startup.

Remember - we do not actually delete / remove anything from the startup routine, instead, our product delays those processes considerably from starting automatically all at once. In this way, you should be able to start using your computer straight away.

In your particular case, it is still not clear to us why your Windows XP system started in 24 minutes, instead of maximum 4, as it used to.

This might be, however you missed that it added the above mentioned entry before each Startup application and as you said, " .... instead, our product delays those processes considerably from starting automatically all at once. ....." and it most certainly "Delayed" all the startup processes.

It seems to me that something went wrong in the startup optimization process using jv16 Power Tool and whatever the optimization attempted to do has in fact failed and I am now stuck with a slow 24 minute startup on my XP system.

What next ?

I have removed the (C:\TST\jv16 PowerTools X\StartupOptimizer.exe) before each Startup Application, however the system is still taking 24 minutes before it is fully loaded and 100% functional.

So what do I do ? - Try optimizing again with the new 4.0.0.1524 version, or what ?

Please confirm that you have disabled the Startup Optimizer of jv16 PowerTools X for the automatically starting processes in question. My suggestion is tightly related to this because they are started by Startup Optimizer (delayed or custom delayed) if it is enabled and not on their own.

In order to help me to pinpoint the bug in question (if any), I would like to ask that you please navigate to our product's installation folder, ZIP the entire Backups sub-directory and send me the .zip file for investigation via a forum private message.

Since sending ZIP files as attachments can sometimes cause problems, you should send it by uploading it to some web service such as https://www.sendspace.com/https://www.sendspace.com/and link the download page from SendSpace in your private forum message to me.

If you have restored your system since the problems have occurred, you could also run either version of jv16 PowerTools again but instead of cleaning the system, only perform the scan (Clean and Fix My Computer for jv16 PowerTools X / Clean and SpeedUp my Computer for jv16 PowerTools 2017 RC2) and when it's finished, go to File -> Save List As and send the saved list to me.

This would provide me more technical details of what has happened and would help me to solve the problem.
