I have Windows 7 and jv16 PowerTools X. When I select a Clean and Fix My Computer scan, the scan seems to skip all registry HKEYS. I also have a laptop with Windows 10 and jv16 PowerTools X, and all items are check marked, as having been scanned. Is there a problem?

I have a similar problem as geronimo with Windows 10 and jv16 Power Tools X on both my computers. On my desktop the scan checks all entries, but on the laptop the file reference scan for all of the registry (HKEY) sections is never executed, and there is no green check mark next to them when Clean and Fix My Computer is finished.

I hope someone can clear this up, because a query regarding the problem was already sent to Macecraft support on October 27th and was never answered.

Edit:

Macecroft support answered on November 20th to say that they are aware of the problem and will be taking care of it soon. Hopefully!

Starting with jv16 PowerTools 2016, we have improved the new Clean and SpeedUp My Computer to stop displaying scan results for registry entries that are automatically recreated by system processes or other resident software. These entries will also be ignored during your System Health score calculation, in order to reflect further accuracy on metrics such as the Registry Health.

To keep an eye out for jv16 PowerTools 2016 Beta2, feel free to bookmark this forum thread: https://www.macecraft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5775. Most likely, we will release the new version for feedback and testing purposes later this week.

Since I was (and am) not computer savvy enough to sign up for beta testing, and considering that jv16 Power Tools 2016 will no longer be available due to your so called “leap forward” to 2017 and into paid subscriptions, I guess this problem will never find a solution.

Having purchased Power Tools X at the end of August 2015, and therefore being assured of a free upgrade to the 2016 version, as mentioned in previous postings on your Macecraft blog pages jv16-powertools-2016-first-sneak-peek/ (September), /jv16-powertools-2016-second-sneak-peek/ (October), and jv16-powertools-2016-third-sneak-peek/ (December 16th), with the following words:

Am I eligible for a free update to jv16 PowerTools 2016?

If you are our Plainum VIP customer then you can update to PowerTools 2016 for free once released. Same rule applies if you have bought jv16 PowerTools X in the August of 2015 or later”,

and jv16-powertools-2016-beta-release-schedule/ (December 23rd), with the added phrase:

“…or if you buy the PowerTools X now, you can update to PowerTools 2016 for free”,

I must say, as a client, I am not impressed with your marketing practices. This final urging to buy a product which would never give free access to its successive version as promised is highly questionable. All of the striking terms you use to introduce your upcoming product and exalt its features can’t make up for that.

Any old and new lifetime licenses will be continuously honored and priority technical support related to product matters will still be ensured by our staff, as always, as promised. Nothing is lost for already existing Platinum VIP customers! Actually, a lot to gain as new services will be released to offer even more options to those in deep trouble as a result of malware infections, scareware, badware, bloatware or any other type of potentially unwanted software.

What we do plan to launch and are currently testing as extras are the services Express Install and PC Optimization Expert. These services will be carried out using a remote desktop connection to the customer's PC (based on his or her request and prior service booking) and are designed to offer a good option in case you want professional human assistance to remove malware, uninstall bloatware or simply do a security round-up check of your system.

If any further questions or concerns on the topic, please do not hesitate to address them in an organized way using our Help Desk system by opening a support ticket with us here: https://macecraft.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Regarding your original bug report:

We have received similar reports and we managed to fix this issue within jv16 PowerTools 2017. Final release version will be made public and delivered to our existing (valid license) customers as a free update by the end of July / first part of August.

I hope this helps.
