I'll put these comments here for lack of a more general forum. Power Tools has been an excellent product for me over the years. Before, I was even using Registry Healer which (if I am correct) is also one of your early products. But there have been problems. No product maintenance and no customer service does not reflect well on PT. The forum for a time was full of failed on-line purchases and license requests. No responses to urgent questions. Many reports of computer crashes or registry damage are here in X and in past forums as well.
A program that changes the registry has to do an excellent job, not just a fair one. You cannot expect customers to be enthusiastic if they have to re-format their hard drives and re-load Windows because of a problem with Power Tools. So far, I have not experienced a total crash and burn, but I am very careful what I ask PT to do.
One example I might offer is that PT looks into the area HKCR and finds "useless file extensions". These extensions might not be in use, but they might be needed at any time if certain software is installed. In any case, a list of unused file extensions does not make the registry defective. It will not slow down or break the registry. Windows monitors such directories and re-creates the extensions if they are removed. Customers depend upon PT to know these things and leave them alone.
I now receive emails about once a week to switch to version X. I hope this version is a success, but I will wait a bit longer before I risk trashing my registry. I am not a moron who believes that everything in the world must be free, and will gladly pay for software that is well done. Good luck in achieving these goals. It is a full-time job for one person to do maintenance and customer service by themselves. I'll keep track of the progress and wish the developer much success in this project.
