Streamlining Startup is a great idea, but the program has no way of knowing that not all startup programs are un-desirable. So there should be a way to easily reverse the changes made - item by item. Even better if I could customize the startup sequence and insert adjustable delay for each startup item individually. Such functionality will be more valuable than one size fit all sledge hammer 'optimization.'

Interesting observation regarding Registry cleaning and compaction. I made a registry backup of my Windows 8.1 desktop using a third party utility before running jvPt 4.0.0.1480, the size was 130MB. After cleaning and compaction it was 131MB and the Startup programs were all messed up even though I UN-checked the option to optimize the Startup !

To undo the Startup Optimizer, just open the Startup Optimizer in PowerTools, choose "Disable" and hit OK. This will undo all the changes it made to your system. Thank you for your suggestion about being able to customize the startup sequence, we will consider adding it to the next version!

A size of the registry stored to a file in disk doesn't really tell us much about what is going on inside the registry. For more detailed data, you can use the Registry Information tool of PowerTools X.

Do you mean you unchecked the Startup Optimizer from the Clean and Fix My Computer tool before running it? What do you mean exactly by the startup programs being "all messed up"?

What I mean is that I ran 'Registry Cleaner' tool - before this tool ran, I was presented with an option to enable/disable 'startup optimizer', I un-checked the box that is supposed to run the Startup optimizer. But apparently the Startup Optimizer still ran and took control of the 'Startup' process on my desktop and un-did the manual corrections that I had made after a previous run of Startup Optimizer.

The Start Optimizer is not well thought out! It messed up Bitdefender 2015 causing certain options to be greyed out and disabled another application which had to manually restarted once it initialized. Disabling "Start Optimizer" doesn't reverse the 'damage'. I had to uninstall vj16 and reinstall it to undo the damage. Also, there is a 'piece' which vj16 - deleted it so can't name it - places in the start up folder which just appears to 'stay' there even after you disable the "Start Optimizer" Or, put another way: Start Optimizer is not ready for prime time!

If the Startup Optimizer has been enabled unintentionally, you can disable it and undo all the changes made simply by opening the Startup Optimizer (Start PowerTools X, click "Speed up my computer's startup", choose "Disabled" and click Apply.

Did you go to "Speed up my computer's startup", and which you chose "Disabled" and clicked Apply?

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean. If you can explain the problem clearly, I may be able to help you.
