I purchased a license for PT X, and put it in the folder where I installed the program. After installation I opened PT X, and

when I look at "MY Account" it shows "Personal license - Platinum VIP". That's my old license that I am up-grading from.

The program always considers Platinum VIP level licenses the best, and therefore uses it automatically over any other license type. Is there a reason why you would prefer another license to be used?
