I bought, downloaded and ran jv16 PowerTools VIP Platinum edition, including running Decrap on my 1 year old Windows 8 computer, which I apparently should not have done. I realized this in the midst of running the Decrap and cancelled it, but I was too late. I am now missing several programs and cannot make my browsers run properly. I cannot get the Live Support to work. How can I restore my system to the previous state? Thanks for any helpful information!

Decrap is a rather dangerous tool for beginners, because it fully removes all the installed software and all the non-standard Start menu and Desktop icons.

So, only use this feature if you know what you are doing!

In fully automatic mode the program will automatically and without any further confirmations uninstall all the third party software from your computer and after this the Windows registry is also cleaned. This option always creates a System Restore Point. Only use this option if you know what you are doing!

If you don't check the fully automatic mode, during the process you have also the possibility to let the program create a System Restore Point.

What mode did you use: fully automatic or not? Did you let the program create a System Restore Point? If so, run the System Restore.

If not, maybe you have a recent System Restore Point automatically created by Windows at a time before running the Decrap tool. Check that and if you have a recent System Restore Point, run System Restore.

But it's possible some of your uninstalled software must be reinstalled.

I agree with Redseujac's reply step by step 100%. I think redseujac should take over the top slot in JV-16. at least we do get good replies, instead of being ignored, because the former top gun has probably ran off with all our money. to me this is very troubling after being a faithful customer for MANY years, now we end up with a blank page. so lets take a vote on making redseujac our new leader here.

Thanks redseujac! Yes, I ran the decrap in auto mode, and if it asked me to set a restore point, then I am sure I clicked it (I always choose that option for just this reason). How do I get to the restore point? Is this a function of the jv16 program, or is it a function of Windows? I am moderately computer literate but I don't want to make things worse so I would appreciate specific instructions of what to do/where to go next. Many many thanks!

It's a Windows function.

But hey, are you kidding?

I checked your 3 posts and look at this thread:

One year ago you already did exactly the same and asked exactly the same questions about "restore after decrap" :

Tullik gave you the answer then and I'm referring to it now also.

I surely will not.
