Does PT 2014 work extremely slow? Read this

I uninstalled my previous version of JV16 and then installed the 2014 version. Everything I have tried so far seems to work except for deleting unneeded files. It scans and comes up with thousands (literally) of temporary Internet content files. It takes hours (again literally) to attempt to fix or delete these but in no case has it ever completed the task. The process starts fast but then gradually slows until one file is being deleted/fixed every three or four seconds. I have let it run all night without completion. It does delete some files because on subsequent attempts fewer files are listed. I did not have this problem with earlier versions. Help please?

Are you using W7-Pro with jv16PT V3.2.0.1138 or the latest V3.2.0.1341, which is much faster!

Could you please be a bit more specific about the nature of your problems?

Is this with or without PowerTools creating backups of the deleted data? If you have thousands of temp files, creating a backup of everything can take a long time.

Thanks for your help. I disabled back-ups for fixing the temp files and everything worked very quickly.

Problem solved.

Running version 3144 on XP Pro SP3 with Pentium 3.06 mhz CPU, 32-bit, 2048 MB RAM. Ran full registry scan and generated 15 errors for which I ran the FIX. This was extremely slow and generated over 18 million page faults. Clearly, the speed has to do with the page fault activity.

Are you using W7-Pro with jv16PT V3.2.0.1138 or the latest V3.2.0.1341, which is much faster!

Could you please be a bit more specific about the nature of your problems?

I've the last one v3.2.0.1341 (licensed Sept 27 2013). Running Registry Cleaner is very very slow with about 900 files to clean. Done after 1 hour. Then tried Registry Compactor and the program stuck (closed with Windows process). So I restored the previous "registry.reg", reinstalled in another directory v2.0.0.1009 (the one where I found my license) and done the samethings (900 file to clean and compact) without problems in 10 mns as usual for years and years with all versions from JV16 freeware.

Maybe can be my Win7 italian version?

Still cannot get the software uninstaller to generate its list of software. Everything else seems to work properly. Using the latest version that was just released (1344).

I must agree: Software Uninstaller is incredibly slow.

It took 9 minutes (!) to create the list of installed software (81 items): this is unacceptable. Other software does this job in less than a minute.

Is this on W8?

For both XP and W7-x64 the Software Uninstaller lists contained >150 items.

We'll I come to find out the software.log file gets created in only a minute or so. I found it in the installation folder. But the program never responds. It just sits there forever with the little green progress bar and the little wheel turning and turning. Obviously something is not right and I can't get a response from anyone that can fix this. Version 2013 exhibited this same exact behavior until it was fixed in the version released on 04/29/2013.

Just upgraded to v3.2.0.1344.

Registry Cleaner OK.

Registry Compactor don't stuck, I can close it regularly, but I've the same error and the utility does not continue to finish his work.

Tested this private build and sent the results by e-mail to the developer.

Now the Software Uninstaller creates the list of installed software in 2 minutes instead of 8-9 minutes on my system.

That's a clear progress

It seems the general speed of the Software Uninstaller has been improved (thanks redseujac for confirming this!) but according to the data sent by gringgo, the problem of the tool freezing is not yet fixed.

Therefore, here is a new test build. Can you please give it a try:

I don't have this problem on my system. After closing the program all jv16PT processes are closed in Task Manager. So no need for me to try private build 2 for that purpose.
