It seems for some users the new 2014 version is running very very slow, for example the generation of Software Uninstaller's list or the running of the Registry Cleaner can take up to 10-15 minutes.

Lets use this thread to discuss and troubleshoot the problem, if you experience this issue, please report to this thread. Thank you!

We will try to get this issue fixed ASAP.

Poll: If you are experiencing this issue, can you confirm whether you:

1) Installed PowerTools 2014 over the 2013 version, or

2) Uninstalled PowerTools 2013 before installing the new version, or

3) Installed PowerTools 2014 to a new directory (and not over any old version)?

I did not uninstall PT 2013

and

I installed it in a new folder.

Mike

CFMC and the registry cleaner are quite slow on my Windows 7 and Windows 8 systems. A CFMC takes from 170-240 seconds depending upon which computer is being used. And all my systems use SSD drives only. This is "big time" slower than previous versions of jv16.

jv16 PowerTools 2014 final version was installed totally fresh in a new directory on all my systems.

jv16 PowerTools 2013 was completely removed prior to the installation of 2014.

Attached is a DebugLog of a CFMC run which took ~180 seconds to perform a scan.

I compiled a test build of the PowerTools 2014, you can download it from:

http://www.macecraft.com/downloads/betas/jv16PT2014_test1.exe

This version is special because it will output so called profile files, which allow us to analyze exactly what parts of the program take time to run.

So, if you are experiencing the problem of the Software Uninstaller or the Registry Cleaner being extremely slow, please download and install this version (you can install it over PT 2014), run it, and send all the generated profileX.txt files (zip first) to this thread. The Profile text files do not contain any information that could compromise your privacy.

Where is this test version storing the profilex.txt files? On Windows 8 x64 Pro, I ran the registry cleaner which took 11 minutes with this test version; however, I cannot find any profilex.txt files.

Are you talking about the attached .txt files? There is one for the registry cleaner which took 11 minutes and one for a CFMC which never completed.

I mean just these files, thank you very much!

I am fairly sure I got the problem fixed, can you please try to run this version and send over the profile text files again:

Thank you!

Reg Cleaner took about 10 minutes, CFMC took about 12 minutes.

test2 version of jv16 on Windows 8 x64 Pro

Old laptop running XP-SP3 with jv16PT2014_test2

Installed Test2 over build 1338 and ran CFMC and Registry Cleaner. NO 'Fix' or 'Delete' done.

Attached are the zipped profile.txt files. I hope this can be of use to you.

.

I have run the new fixed version 3.2.0.1339 on my PC and today it worked OK and the Fix option appears to have worked correctly.

Thanks for the quick work.

Mike

W7-x64-SP1 with jv16PT2014_test2

Installed Test2 clean after full uninstall of RC4i ran CFMC and Registry Cleaner. NO 'Fix' or 'Delete' done.

Attached are the zipped profile.txt files. I hope this can be of use to you.

.

Windows 8 x64 Professional, jv16 V3.2.0.1341

Registry Cleaner Scan: 100 seconds

CFMC Scan: 160 seconds

An improvement, for sure.

Windows 7 x86 Professional, jv16 V3.2.0.1341

Registry Cleaner Scan: 75 seconds

CFMC Scan: 80 seconds

So are there any users with who the new build (V3.2.0.1341) still works very slow? By very slow, I mean running the Registry Cleaner or Clean and Fix My Computer takes 5+ minutes?

I am running pt 3.2.0.1341, win xp pro sp3. I tried running the system optimizer. The only thing it did was page fault; I had to abort it. Don't you try to code within page boundaries for better performance. This does not look like your testing packets were well thought out.

I ran system optimizer on an old laptop XP-SP3 with 1024MB memory and Pentium 4M 2.0Ghz processor.

NO problem with Performance tweaks, User Interface tweaks and Other tweaks!

Version 3.2.0.1341 does not fix the software uninstaller for me. Win7 x64. Did not install over or alongside an older version. Removed version 2013 before installing.

1. on a very old laptop (2001) XP-SP3, Pentium M4, 1024MB laptop it took 3min 52sec to produce the Software Uninstaller list. The process is 100% single processor bound.

2. Om my current laptop (2012) W7-x64, i5, 8GB memory, SSD it took 45sec.

Well I let it run for over an hour and it still hadn't produced the list. I've got a 4930K CPU and 16GB of RAM and I seriously doubt that is insufficient. Everything else seems to work fine. Can't you go back and figure out what you did with the 2013 release on 04/29/2013 as that fixed this issue (it was listed in the release notes at the time)?

I'm an old user, in Windows 7 Pro, 2014 really is very slow. Above all Registry Cleaner and Registry Compactor stuck! Back to 2013 or 2011.
