Loaded and ran the new version for the first time today.

Win XP Home SP3 32bit.

Registry cleaner seems to work fine, removed 2.4mb of data but took a long time...to be expected.

However History cleaner hung when I pressed NO to backup, tried twice but it did the same.

Also and this is more important to me, when you exit JV16 it still remains active in task manager taking about 107mb and 100% of the cpu (only an old Athlon XP I'm afraid). Why isn't it killing the process when it closes ?

Did you install the new jv16PT2014 in a new/clean directory or in a directory that contained leftovers from a previously installed jv16PT2013/2012?

The 2 issues you mentioned do not occur on my W7-x64 Professional and Home Premium systems.

Hi Leonardo. I de-installed my previous JV16 2013 (I've been using this program since Reg Supreme days) and installed JV16 2014 to a new folder and downloaded and installed the new licience.

I had to kill it a couple of times in task manager, so I gave it a chance after a complete shutdown/reboot to see if it did the same thing.

After reboot I started JV16 but didn't do anything, then just closed it using File/exit and monitored task manager..it stayed there and appeared to be conducting some activity as the ram varied from 107-109mb with the cpu at 100%, I left it for 5 minutes but the process didn't die.

So, at the moment I know to kill it if I use/open it, but I'm not sure what it might be doing when it should have closed....perhaps it's dreaming?

If you are testing this on a Win XP system I chose the following options on the new install.

1. Translations were unticked (so English only)

2. Ticked the box to make it available to all users of this computer

3. Installed handbook during setup.

Good luck !

I did a test on an old Thinkpad A31p from 2001 running Win-XP

- 1024MB memory (2x 512MB slots!)

- Intel Pentium 4 Mobile single thread processor, 2.0Ghz.

1.First I fully uninstalled jv16PT2011 and deleted the installation folder.

2.Downloaded a 60 day trial version of jv16PT2014 from http://www.macecraft.com

3.Installed this trial version (build 1338).

4.Started jv16PT2014 build1338 and ran the Software uninstaller.

It look almost 14 minutes to produce the list, see attached screenshot, during this time the task manager showed ~100% processor load (single processor).

5.I then closed Software uninstaller, waited a few seconds and closed jv16PT2014 itself.

6.The Windows Task Manager did NOT show jv16pt.exe anymore.

7.Started jv16PT2014 again and ran Registry cleaner.

Over 10.000 items were found which I 'Fix'-ed in 3 runs. Which took a long time on this slow 2001 Thinkpad, but everything went fine in the end.

So I cannot confirm your 2 issues!

Thanks for checking Leonardo.

I will do a complete uninstall and clean install again on this pc and report back.

I have 2 other XP machines here one XP Pro the other XP Home so I might try it on them as well.

Sorry, we encountered an error while displaying this content. If you're a user, please try again later. If you're an administrator, take a look in your Flarum log files for more information.

Well downloaded ver 1341, uninstalled JV16 2014 rebooted and installed ver 1341....same problem.

So, I've always had 2 XP updates that failed to install, tried installing them but they still don't like my system.

Next, decided to remove anything JV16 lying around.

I had 2 folders in my programs folder JV16 2009 and JV16 2010, both were empty apart from the Licence which applied to them, deleted them all and the empty JV16 2014 folder, rebooted and the installed ver 1341.

Ran a reg clean, quite fast, completed and exited JV16, watching task manager.....hey presto it vacated task manager after a few seconds. Re started, ran the history cleaner (no to backup) and that worked to.

Shut JV16 down and once again the process stopped in task manager.

So, problem solved, thanks Leonardo for your time.

To anyone else with the same problem, make sure every old JV16 folder is deleted before an install.
