This crash occurs when installing jv16 on my MS Surface Pro tablet with Windows 8 x64 Professional at the point of clicking on Finish of the Install wizard to build the first cache. jv16 crashes and will not start at all.

jv16 2013 installs and runs fine on my MS Surface Pro.

I have now made some changes in order to address this issue, the possible fix will be included to the next released build. Thank you for reporting!

Just to be clear: by "crash" you mean those two error messages at the bottom of the program window?

It happened twice on my W7-x64 laptop and I had to (re)install jv16PT2014-RC1 twice.

In both cases it occurred while 'going though' the main menu options 'backups', 'settings' and 'action history'.

Today I will reinstall RC1 again and try to find a pattern.

W7-x64 Home premium on my desktop with RC1

For a change I now Installed jv16PT2014_RC1 on my desktop computer. (1st install)

Immidiatelly following installation I tried to invoke the 'windows horizontal sizing problem'.

During alternately running CFMC and Registry cleaner, while resizing colums and window sizes, the resizing problem happened again while horizontally resizing the Registry cleaner scan result window.

W7-x64 SP1 with jv16PT2014_RC1

Despite putting A: in the Global ignore list, the floppy disk drive on my desktop is accessed/searched during the fixing of (almost) each item in the 'Invalid file and directory reference' scan list ONLY!

So fixing takes a long-long time and lots of noise!

This seems to be a recurring issue for each annual jv16PT release.

.....5. Clean and Fix My Computer's more aggressive run modes now have the same level of aggression as the Registry Cleaner, before Clean and Fix My Computer did not perform all the scans of the Registry Cleaner.......

Are the differences in the scan lists from 'CFMC' and 'Registry cleaner' considered normal?

Both 'CFMC' and 'Registry Cleaner' ran with the Normal system scan policy.

Yes, starting with PowerTools 2014, the Clean and Fix My Computer - as the name suggests - takes a more comprehensive approach to the system cleaning, including registry analysis. This means it should always find more than the Registry Cleaner alone.

As discussed before during jv16PT2013 beta testing, the list produced by SW uninstaller is (still) quite different from the lists produces by 'W7-uninstall a program', 'CCleaner' and 'Soft Organizer'.

This issue should now be fixed (or if not 100% fixed, at least improved) with the next version, thank you for reporting!

Indeed that is what I understood from the 2014_RC1 announcement list.

However in my W7 x64 desktop case (with 1st install of jv16PT2014_RC1) it is Registry cleaner that finds over 530 issues, not found by CFMC!

Will be fixed in the next build, sorry, forgot to report the fix. The fix was done with the "Software Uninstaller not listing everything" bug fix.
