No it is not!

After each Initial setup the PC and Registry health are by design reset to a 'default value'. Only after running 'Clean & Fix my Computer' and fixing all found issues, the PC and Registry health are set to 100% again!

good day,

same here...

Its just dome it again, there is clearly somthing wrong with this buils=d as no other build has ever gone this!

hi,

i more and more think that's on purpose, a new way the software runs itself : it says "need to run the IS again...".

So that's something that was written in the code IMHO.

Maybe the ghost dev can help ! :)

I posted this on the 15th fallowed by you who also had it, but total lack of response from developer who appear to leave it to Leonardo. Its not to brilliant either the lack of response or that if it is meant to do this that others just accept a totally new behaview that Leonardo said wasn't meant to happen.

I can confirm this behavior. On my older WinXP machine, PT2013 has re-run the initial setup 2 times. I've never experienced this on a previous version, nor can I recreate the behavior at will - I don't know what triggers it. Somewhat annoying.

Same here, I've had the popup asking to rerun the setup & I too thought it was strange. I assumed that it was a new feature.

Now my 64bit install has started to do it. I can only take it as said above its programed to do this but why, in what conditions and why those testing the beta do not appear to have “suffered” are all odd The lack of response from the developers is regrettably however normal and expected

Have you seen the survey ? He envisages sooner or later abandoning the app to Open Source...

Maybe hard to make it work as it should do, or other ongoing projects.

Anyway, that's no respect, and this has gone on for far too long.

I just had it happen when I opened PT2013.

Weird indeed!

This also started happening on my Windows 8 x64 Professional and Windows 7 x86 Professional systems. The following steps appear to have stopped it from happening on my systems.

1. Open jv16 PowerTools main GUI.

2. Go to Tools in the top menu and select Program Maintenance.

3. Once the Program Maintenance window opens, select:

- "Delete old snapshots" and confirm that you want to delete them (2 days old is fine).

- "Delete old backups" and confirm that you want to delete them (2 days old is fine).

- "Delete temp files"

- "Reset Statistics"

- "Remove Registry Compactor backups"

- "Flush Cache" and let it flush, shutdown jv16, restart jv16, and rebuild the cache. (BE SURE this is the last item you select in this list of maintenance items.)

4. Run Registry Cleaner or Clean and fix my computer which should bring your Registry Health and PC Health back up to 100%.

As I said, the above appears to have stopped the initial set up from having to run....at least, it has for the past 3 days that I have used jv16. I suspect that it was the "Delete temp files", Reset Statistics" and then "Flush Cache" steps that fixed the problem. :

Mine seemed to run again after several weeks (possibly 4) rather than days which could mean that it's set to be run again on the same day/date every month that the program was originally installed, if it's different for all users with this problem then there's something up with it but if the time period is the same for all then it might be a new feature although if a new feature why isn't it mentioned as being so anywhere.

My two PCs are different; the 32bit has had it a number of times and the 64bit just once. From the silence I think the developers have lost interest in this product and we appear to have to lump it!

What’s more worrying is if a more damaging bug were found will it also be ignored as this one is as a simpe repy to say its a bug or is a new feature is all most have been asking.

a month later

Hopefully the constant rerunning of initial set up will be sorted with a new build OR users will be told why it keeps doing it?

The initial Setup has been designed to rerun occasionally in the new jv16 PowerTools 2013. It should not run everyday or very often. The idea behind the reruns is to keep the software running better longer.

I apologizes for the lack of response on this matter.
