I have had nothing but problems with 2013.

1. About a month ago +/-, I installed 3.0.0.1258, which installed fine but using the Registry Cleaner, it froze repeatedly.

2. Downloaded and tried to install 3.0.0.1267. The installation appeared to complete but when the program tried to launch the only thing that happened is the program bar on the Task Bar sat there and did nothing. I looked in Task Manager and it kept alternating between "running" and "program is not responding". Eventually, I had to end the process.

3. Totally uninstalled 3.0.0.1267 using Revo Uninstaller and tried again but ran into the same as #2. No bug report anywhere.

4. Installed 3.0.0.1258 again but got the same problem as #2 again. Downloaded a fresh copy of 3.0.0.1267 and installed over the top and got the same problem as #2. Only this time, I waited 30 minutes and finally the main window opened. Ran the Registry Cleaner, which took much longer than 2012 but completed after 15 minutes. Tried to delete some entries and it froze. Again, I had to open Task Manager and end the process for jv16 PowerTools 2012 to close the program.

5. 2012 works fine... no problems whatsoever. It launches and functions great.

What's a man to do at this point? I've been a user of this program for many years and never experienced these type of problems before. I'm more than disappointed at this point.

OS is Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Did you install v3.0.0.1267 in a new clean/empty directory?

Or did you install in a previous jv16PT director, after an uninstall.

Note: uninstall (at default settings) does not clean everything from a previous jv16PT directory.

As mentioned in my original post, I used Revo Uninstaller to install and then uninstall the app which means every single folder, file and registry entry installed is removed when uninstalled.

Now, the only thing that I haven't done is to uninstall 2012 because 2013 is installed into its own folder. However, I'm open to the possibility that there is some conflict when having two separate versions installed. It does appear that others who were having similar issues did uninstall 2012 completely before installing 2013 but that didn't make any difference.

And just to make it very clear... I have a paid license.

Running both jv16PT2013 and jv16PT2013 next to each other is indeed not the problem.

In W7-x64 I am running jv16PT2011/2012/2013 next to each other without any problem.

Hello,

Like Hapkido I run Vista, except I use the 64-bit version. I, too, have deleted the 2013/1267 directory and re-installed it, but to no avail. It would appear that there is a PT2013 / Vista disconnect.

Are the entries which freeze JV16 when you clean listed under 'incorrect permissions'? Mine does the same & it's these which are the cause, if I clean individually those which don't crash the program will not clean (error listed in the box) so I'm thinking these entries should not be appearing at all. I have just hidden said items & no more freezes.

My problem as stated in the original thread starter is much more basic. I cannot even get the program to launch, never mind run any of the utilities within the program. Therefore I am having to use 2012 despite having paid for 2013.

a month later

I also paid for the "upgrade" - it is rather a downgrade - to 2013 and I am using 2012 again. Since I always make a complete system backup B4 installing a new software, I could restore everything without leaving any traces of 2013 on my computer. Let's hope that the new team will produce a version that will work fine. In former times jv16PT was the best on the market.
