Hello,

I have two issues with PowerTools 2013.

1. I tried to purchase JV16 PT2013 last night by paying with the same debit card (MasterCard) I use to purchase other items like books, etc over the 'Net. However, I received an error message and the transaction was terminated. Ms. Peltonen informs me in an email that I need to "go to the ticket system and send us reply through there and not reply via email". However, this is what I did - as I understand it - to receive her response in the first place. I had the same problem when I purchased PT2012.

2. In the interim, I downloaded PT2013 and installed it. When I ran the Registry Cleaner, PT2013 informed me I had 7054 errors. I admit to being taken aback, especially since I had run PT2012 immediately before installing the new version. No matter, I say, PT2013 must be much better than the older version. So I click on "fix" after ticking all the relevant boxes. And I wait. And wait. And wait a little longer. But nothing happens. After half an hour I figure something is wrong so I click "Abort". I uninstall PT2013, reinstall it and run it again. Same result. Today I thought I'd run it again. Same result - nothing happens after 45 minutes of running it.

My system:

Windows Vista Home Premium, fully updated, 64-bit

6 GB RAM; 2 X 1 TB HDD mirrored

I am NOT a computer expert. I study theology at the Doctoral level and use JV16 to ensure my computer runs well. I am not conversant with computer technology and not interested in it, believe it or not!

So now, can somebody please let me know just what it is I am doing wrong? Any help will be much appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

Issue 1. please go to http://www.macecraft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=5304&p=32470#p32444 this is the proper way to solve your order/license problems.

Issue 2. If I understood you correctly, you could not fix (yet) any of your found items found by the registry cleaner. During the 'Fix' process nothing happens. On the bottom line of the registry cleaner window you see no 'fixing' activity. The system just stalls on you (until abort) without any application error message?

Abort seems to work OK? After abort and running registry cleaner again you find the same 7054 errors devided over a number of groups?

Suggestion: Run registry cleaner and select/tick only ONE group of the items found in the scan result list. The group with the LEAST number of items. Try to fix only this group (with a backup), see what happens. I the fixing worked OK, select ONE other group, run fix etc. etc.. till you find the group responsible for the jv16PT2013 stall.

About issue 1: You could try the PayPal payment option in our online store, you do not need a PayPal account to do so, it can simply take your credit card information and you can pay it like that. We are in a process of adding a third payment processor to improve our array of payment options in the near future.

About issue 2: There seems to be a bug in the product that causes it to work very slowly on some systems, this especially occurs when trying to fix registry errors.

We are currently in the process of trying to locate and fix the problem. I'm expecting the issue to be solved and a fixed version of the product to be released shortly (within a few days).

Hello Leonardo and JV16,

Please accept my thanks for your prompt replies. JV16, I look forward to the modified version of PT2013.

I'm glad you're aware of the speed problem. I've been using the JV16 PowerTools for many, many years, and 2013 is by far the fastest in finding errors and the absolute slowest in fixing or deleting them.

Incidentally, you might want to warn old users that the 2013 version does find far more errors (esp. registry errors) in the "normal modes" than previous versions. After cleaning my system with 2012 and then using 2013, the new version found almost 3,000 registry errors. That would be 3,000 errors that 2012 never found. Needless to say, I backed up everything before fixing (mostly deleting) the errors, but even then I felt tense moments during the clean-up operation. It all went well, by the way; at least, the system is still running after several days :).

Still, it could come as a scary shock to users to see the new program finding so many errors the older program didn't find. As I say, a little word of warning might be in order.

Just installed the latest update to 2013 (ver. 1267). On XP/SP3 it's still slow. Whereas 2012 took only seconds to delete, say, 10 empty folder errors, it now takes up to a minute on my system.

Incidentally, in the "Clean and Fix My Computer" section, 2013 continually finds empty, useless folders. But most of these folders just get regenerated when you use the associated program. So, I guess there's a point to 2013's finding them?

OK, I solved the problem (for me, anyway) of why 2013 (latest and original versions) were taking so very much time fixing or deleting errors (about ten times slower than 2012). I had installed the 2013 programs over 2012. It didn't work in XP. I had to uninstall the newest 2013 and reinstall it from scratch. Now, the fixing and deleting functions are almost instant.

Hello John,

Thank you for your latest post. I still cannot get 1267 to work at any reasonable speed. Please let me know if JV16 2013 ver. 1267 installs in the same folder as JV16 2012. If it does, I'll uninstall 2012, reinstall 2013 and try it again. On the other hand, if it does not (and I suspect this is the case) will I still need to remove PT2012?

At this time I've downloaded and installed ver. 1267 but it still takes over 45 minutes, which is when I terminated the application. At the time of termination, the progress bar had barely registered.

I've also noticed that with 1267 I only get 3000-odd errors whereas the previous version of 2013 found over 7000, as I pointed out in my original post in this thread.

If the developer reads this post, may I ask you to inform me if there is another version due which caters to the minority such as I who run Vista, or will I need to move to Windows 7?

I look forward to both your replies.

Kind regards,
