What is result difference between Fix and Delete in the PowerTools Lite EX Registry Cleaner?

(and custom fix also for that matter)

I looked into the Handbook (which BTW is not in Support/documentation which location does not exist) for Lite EX 2013

While that provides general info on how to set up the selection of things for Registry Cleaner function, there is no discussion of what to do with the results.

The result page/window I have lists: "Custom fix" or "Fix" or "Delete" or "Close".

How can I know what to choose between Fix or Delete?

P.S. I also searched in the Support Forum, but after several searches, it was only telling me the terms I wish to find are too general so no results provided. :(

Env: Windows XP Pro SP3, PowerTools Lite EX 2013 v2.1.0.1201 (just installed).

Thank you.

This is from the jv16 PowerTools Handbook:

When the Registry Cleaner has completed its scan you have three options:

1. Delete the found errors.

2. Fix the found errors.

3. Use the Custom Fix feature to fix the errors found.

The simplest solution is to repair found errors with the Fix button. It automatically attempts to correct the errors. If no fix is found the feature deletes the erroneous registry data.

You can also use the Custom Fix feature. Simply select all items with Select > All (or by pressing Ctrl+A), and click the Custom Fix button on the bottom of the window. After a few seconds, a dialog opens which allows you to select how you would like to fix the problem.

So it's rather simple:

  • Fix: tries to correct the errors

Delete: removes the erroneours registry entries

Thanks for the info, redseujac,

It is useful.

It would probably be useful for all PT Lite users for Macecraft to have that info from the JV16 manual added into the PowerTools Lite and Lite EX manual(s).

(silly me for not looking into a manual for a different product ... ahem ... ;0 )

Maybe they will read this thread and beef up the PowerTools Lite handbook manual -- pages 17 and 18 "Registry Cleaner" are where this info should go.

I would hope that they do not take the "Lite" philosophy so far as to making the manual lighter by leaving out what the buttons do ....

I do agree.
