As far as I know, the order in which the programs are started is always determined by Windows and cannot be changed.

There are some programs to do that. They start with Windows, launching the other programs configured to start with Windows on their own, one after another in a row previously decided, when one concludes, they launch another.

But you know, I tried several of these programs, and the results are quite disappointing. Some of them doesn't bring a great difference in time, and there are others that do quite the opposite, so it's not worth the effort.

jv16--Startup Organizer by Metaproducts does this, though I'm not sure if it really affects anything.

I would like the software to be a little more bug-free before adding extra features. The main issues are software hang after cache update & cursor corruption during several operations (mouse cursor changes to resize on main JV16 screen). There are also unusual delays on several operations eg help/homepage. Opening Software manager, shows an empty page for around 2 minutes until it loads the data.

Wow--really? Mine comes up in under 5 seconds. You might want to start a separate thread for that issue and list your computer specs. I have a feeling that one may be more of a personal conflict rather than an overall bug.

The symptoms sounds like there are some problems with your computer's configuration.

The cursor corruption, for example is most likely caused by invalid/buggy video card drivers. The Help > homepage feature only calls one windows API function in order to launch the default browser, if that doesn't work properly it could mean there is something wrong with your Windows installation or drivers.

So, what would you like the new version to contain?

Hi

Thanks for the opportunity to take part in the next major release.

I find that many of the menus and boxes open one on top of the other and this causes navigational erros. I would like to see a feature that either closes the primary box leaving the secondary box open to view, or the boxes move out of the way and allign up side by side.

I notice that some of the features, such as the black list vs white list open with very little instruction or apparent controls - perhaps a floating instruction bar or info bar might help.

A really helpful tool set would be a program remover (automated) with a chance to restore if it removes the wrong software and a program mover which would re-locate a whole software program including registry and dll code to a new location, inclduing a new or different drive.

Finally any tool that facilitates VPN or remote desktop control.

Thanks for all the effort and great software.

Everyone who posts a good new idea or a feature request will receive a free personal license for the product. By "good" I mean we will judge what ideas, suggestions or feature requests will entitle for a free license.

jv16--this is a wonderfully generous offer. If we do receive a free personal license, how will we know? Just checking as my trial version recently ran out and I'm intending to purchase, but wanted to make sure I didn't win one first.

Please add the functionality to the privacy protector to delete ALL index.dat files on a user's system.

The Registry Monitor, while useful, takes an extraordinary amount of time to take snapshots. Is this because it's creating a backup to undo any changes that are made? If so, I'd really like the option to disable this so I can simply get a before-and-after comparison in a snap. Respectfully, Christian Hart

FYI: The jv16 PowerTools 2006 will include a fully rewritten Registry Monitor feature. All the current performance and other problems should be fixed with it.

For example, generating a snapshot of the hkey_local_machine root takes about 40 seconds, when you compare it with the current state of the registry it takes about 35 seconds on my computer.

The first beta version should be ready on December.

  • Make the main panel customizable re: visible tools, order thereof, etc.
  • Put the backup tool in the same UI as the other tools.

ad a registry defrag program it would be very helpful thanks charles.

I think that it would be great if this tool could also have an editing function which would allow deleting and moving entries on the Start Menu. I have often wanted to find a simple way to group several products from a software company under one folder. For example, Adobe. Thus PhotoShop and Acrobat Reader would all be in the Adobe folder. Since you have a product which tweaks the Start Menu shortcuts, this would be a useful enhancement.

Good work on Power Tools!

Thanks!

Also, if it's not too late: it would be great to have a selection to check online for any updates to jv16 PowerTools itself and to download the update, if available. The logical placement for this would seem to be on the File menu beneath 'Check for Registry Cleaner updates...'.

There will be a proper internet update feature.

By the way, the much requested Full row select feature is now implemented to jv16 PowerTools 2006.

The full row select allows you to select items (i.e. put the tick to the small box of the specific line) by clicking the line without the need to put the tick to the small box.

The full list of new features should be ready for publishing within a week or so.

Suggestions of new tools for jv16:

1) Memory optimization in real time.

2) Defragmetation of Page Files and files MFT in boot.

3) In uninstaller option adding feature of deleting each files and trakes of program by its folder.

Hi

It may have already been suggested but a feature I would like to see is a 'Broken Shortcut Cleaner' for the whole PC as opposed to just the Start Menu and the Desktop.
