Disk wiper, Free Space: This issue still exists in Beta 4.

--After clicking 'Abort' the Disk wipe task continues in the background (as shown by the Task Manager) until the free space wiping is finished.

--Closing the 'Main window' (jv16PT) now finishes the running Task manager process (jv16PT.exe).

--The green progress bar is not following the Disk wipe process correctly. Wiping process completed successful when the progress bar showed ~60% completion.

--Attached is the zipped Debuglog.html of a complete Disk wipe run followed by an aborted Disk wipe run.

Start Menu Tool: Seems to work fine now in Beta4, see screenshot below.

Decrap my Computer: Two small issues:

1. Cosmetic? bug at the last line of of the group 'Automatically starting software'

Confirmed:
- Bug fix: The History Cleaner can sometimes list items that contain data set to be ignored with the Global Ignore List.
  
  Bug fix: Program can crash to Out of Memory error when starting the Clean and Fix My Computer or the Registry Cleaner.
  
  Bug fix: Program can crash to Access Violation when performing the Clean and Fix My Computer or the Registry Cleaner (or when trying to fix the found errors).
  
  Bug fix: Registry Cleaner (and Clean and Fix My Computer) produces only a very limited number of results compared to the previous beta. This bug was a combination of two issues: the registry cleaner engine always ran in the most safest engine mode and in this mode the internal safety checks were not functioning properly (i.e. they ignored almost all of the found registry errors).
  
  Note: the three items just above appear to be fixed with a most aggressive Registry Cleaner run.
  
  Improvement: Improved the format of the Debug Log file.
  
  Improvement: The program no longer creates 'jv16PT_InitialSetup_debuglog' file. Instead, data from the critical Initial Setup is saved to every jv16PT_debuglog created.

Not fixed:
- Bug fix: Saving some data, such as the window positions, does not work. Tool and results windows still reload with default sizes (i.e., Height and Width).

Not tested:
- Bug fix: Program can hang to Application seems to be frozen message in relation to component TRegCleanerIgnoreListBuilder.
  
  Improvement: Major performance improvements all around the program.
  
  Improvement: If run within VirtualBox virtual machine, the program will automatically have the Advanced GUI mode checked in the Quick Tutorial (if you are running a virtual machine, you must be an advanced user).
  
  Improvement: Removed many of the confusing options of the Duplicate File Finder and updated the 'skip large files' threshold from 100 MB to 1 GB.
  
  Improvement: The program now contains the next generation Duplicate File Finder with better performance. But since it's all brand new, there might be some issues remaining, so please give it a try and report anything unusual.

You are probably right. My confirmation test only wiped less than 200 files and sub-directories within a directory. I did not specify wiping of the free space.

I just tried it again, adding the wipe free space option. The presence of a large file (817 MB and growing) named "jv16pt_wipefile.bin" meant the tool was busy trying to wipe 1.5 GB of free space. I clicked Abort and the tool window froze. Process jv16PT.exe continued to show more than 40% cpu use in Task Manager. After several minutes, I killed the process. The pertaining logs are attached. The second debug log, acquired after killing the disk wiper session, contains three freeze reports. I thought there were more, but only three are in the bugreport.txt.

The Uninstaller does not work properly... I uinstalled two software (JRE 7 update 10 and 11).

Situation (before uninstall):

JRE7 update 11 is installed correctly on my computer - Though it is listed in the section "Possible left-over traces".

JRE7 update 10 is not installed - It is listed in the section "Possible left-over traces" also.

Result of the uninstallation by jv16 PowerTools:

JRE7 update 11 is still listed in the "Programs and Features" in Windows.

This is on Windows 8 x64 Professional, jv16 Beta 4 and MS Office 2013

In the History Cleaner, it is calling Office documents as Office 2003. My computer is running MS Office 2013 and this computer has NEVER seen MS Office 2003. I recommend that you change this description to "Microsoft Office" and leave off the version number.

Win 8x64 Pro, skipped beta3. Some things I notice with beta 4 and running Reg Cleaner and Start Menu Tool:

- The Reg Cleaner results have improved considerably, but the very short-sized bottom area vertical UI for specifics remains *very* annoyingly nonadjustable. I don't understand why it was ever this way, let alone still at this late date.

- Why do the betas install into separate folders, while not being recognized as installs by Windows? Yet, on the desktop, the new beta install recognizes the icon, even though the icon's title specifies a beta number. In addition, beta 4 doesn't clean the program's Start Menu entries, even though the program folders have been deleted.

A resized main GUI is not remember. In addition, resized settings windows are not remember either. They always open up back at the default size.

This is now fixed, thank you for reporting! Sorry about the delay with this fix, I had it in quite low priority. The fix will be included to the next released version.

The registry cleaner detects the following keys at all levels of assertiveness as being Obsolete software entrys. However, these keys contain the license information for Thumbsplus Pro V9. If any are removed, Thumbsplus states it is back in Trial mode and needs the registration data re-entered. There is no folder on the system disk named Cerious Software Inc. There are folders that are named Cerious Software that contain the Thumbsplus installation.

This is now fixed, thank you for reporting! The fix will be included to the next released build.

As you can see from the above post, jv16 permits multiple copies of Jv16PowerTools.exe to be run in memory. I recommend that this be fixed so that only one copy of jv16PowerTools can run in memory.

This is now fixed, thank you for reporting! Starting with the next build, it's no longer possible to start multiple instances of the program. Doing this could cause different problems for example the Settings file being written and read by the different instances at different times.

History Cleaner:

The 8 "IIS Log files" listed apparently can not be cleared.

This is now fixed, starting with the next build these items are no longer listed. Thank you for reporting!
