I am using jv16 version 2.1.0.1173 on a 64 bit Windows 7 computer. I have a question concerning the use of File Tools -> File Finder -> Search by Content feature.
Are there limits as to what types of files that it can search? For instance, if I have a .txt file, a .reg file, and a .docx (Microsoft Word) file with each file containing the same target word, and all files in the same folder, I only get a hit in the .txt file - but not in the .reg or .docx file.
The same situation occurs on my 32 bit Vista laptop (with the same version of jv16).
I've carefully reviewed all the settings related to File Finder to make sure that I am searching in the desired folders with no limits on size, date, owner, ignore words, etc.
I'm particularly interested in searching .reg files - but I never get any hits on those files, even though I know the word I am searching for is in the file (by opening .reg files with notepad one by one and confirming it is there).
I'd appreciate any information or advice you might have.
