i thought this would be interesting, since i have had numerous problems in the past with upgrades, so i have been very skittish.i just downloaded an installed an set up 2012 an ran it, an guess what. the whole process worked perrrrfectly,it even included my license which has not happened lately. I'm shocked an VERY pleased.

KUDOS to JV-16 an all his minions.

I'm glad to hear you are shocked to find out that everything worked :

well i guess i have to rescind my bragging of 2012, cause now i have a problem with it. for the first few days it worked perfect, now the reg cleaner does not show any files to be removed after the scan. so i tinkered with the settings an no, so i opened 2011 which i had not yet uninstalled an ran the scan on it an it came up with some "MRU'S" an a few others that 2012 did not show. so i uninstalled 2012 an reinstalled it then checked all settings between 2011 an 2012 an they are both the same. its strange cause 2011 always comes up with a few files that 2012 does not show,so i dont know if this a glitch or what.seems funny that it worked good at first.

After cleaning the registry with jv16PT-2012-b1173, the following 143 items were found by jv16PT-2011-b1053 and were NOT found by jv16PT-2012-b1173, see attached .zip file!

All 'Engine settings' , 'Additional Safety settings' and 'Advanced Engine Settings' were held the same in both situations.

PS: However this does not necessarily mean that overall jv16PT-2012-b1173 finds less items than jv16PT-2011-b1053.

well my feeble mind is a little confused here. so you're saying that after a reg scan with 2012 no errors were reported, then you did a scan with 2011 an 143 errors were reported. But that DOES NOT mean that 2011 finds more errors than 2012.

now i just did another scan with my 2012 an then my 2011. 2012 did NOT find any errors an 2011 found 12 MRU'S, but that also means that 2011 does not find any more errors than 2012.

just for the record i have installed that latest 2012-1173 an my 2011 is 1053

Guess i have to go back to first grade math.

jv16PT-2012 got a new/improved registry cleaning engine. Assume the 2012 engine does a better cleaning job in most registry area's and a less aggressive cleaning job in the MRU area.

After using jv16PT-2012 all that additional cleaning is done too. When jv16PT-2011 is used for the final scan it finds a number of MRU entries, not found by jv16PT-2012.

However this does not necessarily mean that overall jv16PT-2011 finds more items than jv16PT-2012 or is doing a better job!

The comparison should be:

1. Start with a registry that is not cleaned for quite some time, lets say 6 month's.

2. Scan (without fix/delete) with jv16PT-2012 and note the number of found items.

3. Now scan with jv16PT-2011 and compare the number of found items with the 2012 scan.

Leonardo is right: PT2012 only finds less MRU items, but this isn't a big deal because the cleaning of the other (more important) items is OK.

okay, i think i got it now. the key in your answer was doing a 6 mo. scan. i do a more regular scan, every couple days or so, also i dont use fix an delete, i like to go through the list to make sure of what i delete. thank you for your reply, sorry if i was a pest but you have to take into consideration my feeble mind. thanks again.
