I have a question regarding the use of the “duplicate file finder” function of JV16 PwerTools 2011, version 2.0.0.1053. When the program completes its search, it provides a list of duplicate files it has found. Do I delete the entire list, or must I leave 1 file from every duplicate group that it reports? In other words, is a copy of the file left on the drive and does not appear on the list? But how would it know which copy to keep? My search returned almost 9,000 duplicate files. Must each duplicate be selected and deleted manually?

1. DO NOT DELETE the WHOLE list!

2. The list with the scan results should list every file with its duplicate(s). So if you delete the list both the original file and its duplicate(s) are deleted.

3. The list just provides duplicate information. The user is responsible to use this info in a sensible way to (manually) delete unneeded duplicate files.

4. See the warning message at the bottom of the scan result list.

Thank you Leonardo for taking the time to reply. I thought as much. I have already deleted about 100 files. I think I will do rest when I am really, really bored. Regards.
