jv16 installation abort

HI All, I am using jv16 since many years.

The problem has shown after 2009 version,from 2010 till today every installation aborts during install process.

I use XPpro-sp3 on 3 pcs being AMD and Intel.

I disabled also the antivirus (avast), but no luck.

Anymore suggestions please ?

I am using XP Pro-SP3 on a laptop for years without any installation problems with jv16PT-2009/-2010/-2011 and -beta 2012.

Can you be a little more specific about your "installation aborts", do you get application errors, error messages, etc..

HI Leonardo, attached is a screenshot of the error it gives to me.

Since last year it gives always the same error, is there any log to see what it makes ,

I do not find any jv16 log in Windows system just the *.pf file ?

I have also asked for support help to Macecraft, but have had no luck with their suggestions. :

The XPsp3 in use is always the same since many years , updated always to the last new output, maybe is there some issue ?

HI again Leonardo, answering your question : install in a new clean directory.

When the error HistoryCleaner happens and its installation aborts, in the new directory are present only 2 dirs : Settings and Uninstall and 2 files JV16pt.exe and recognition.dll.

Further I have recalled that one full installation of the last jv16 program v.2001053 has occurred on 31 july of 2011, but that program works with lot of errors. :?

I have found also an error bug-report file in the jv16 dir on XP-OS, strange that no one from the jv16 support has asked to send it in the previous emails exchanged.

And I own 2\two jv16 licenses. :

I have also tried on a Win7pro-italian and there all the installation procedure has run errorless.

Will test on it for run errors, now I know where the bug-report is, but I cannot understand where ot what errors it reports.

I am also ready to upload to the support the bug-report if they will ask for.

The file bugreport.txt in the jv16PT installation directory records application errors during the execution of the jv16PT program itself.

Your error/bug happens during the jv16PT setup/installation. As far as I know, these setup errors cannot (yet) be captured in the bugreport.txt file.

What kind of errors do you mean, my version of jv16PT-2011-b1053 runs fine for the functions I use!

The jv16 v2001053 installed works just on the first steps of Search or Compact or other options .

Clean the PC works till the results are shown in the tree list and I when choose one to repair or cancel

the attached pic window appears and only the RESTART Application works.

After this installation, not properly working, every time I try to make a clean install in new dir, it aborts with the HistoryCleaner error.

Can you attach/upload the zipped jv16PT-2011-v1053 bugreport.txt, containing the exception message "is not a valid integer value", to this forum thread. Perhaps the developer (jv16) can still do something useful with it.

I am pretty sure your problem(s) in XP-SP3 are language related too, as the two other users experienced during jv16PT-2011 beta testing.

Glad to here that these problems do not occur in W7 Italian + jv16PT-2011.

Hallo again Leonardo, thank you for the infos and the suggestions.

Regarding the bugreport file : I am ready to send BUt only to the support directly ( if they asks for ) as in the file there are too many PRIVACY references .

As I have written before I have already had many emails exchanged with the support since last year, but they have never

asked for that file... : :

The last email with them is from last week suggesting "again" to disable the antivirus .... :(
