I installed the trial of jv16 2011 yesterday, based on Fred Langa's recommendation.

I ran the registry cleaner and it found and cleaned about 200 items - good so far. However, when running the uninstall software app, it found some Roxio and some Nero software. These were listed in the group for which uninstall information does exist. I do not have either of those programs installed, but I did have. I had uninstalled them a long time ago. When I told jv to uninstall what it found, it came back saying that here were no registry entries of files for either of them.

Using regedit, I found more than 100 entries for Roxio alone.

Can someone tell me what purpose jv serves in showing that software is installed, but it can't do anything about getting rid of it? Is this just a bug to be fixed, or is this simply a weakness of the program?

thank you

This is by design. See this post from jv16 (developer).

Try jv16 PowerTools 2012 beta (currently beta 3)

- Greatly improved performance of the Software Uninstaller, both in its ability to find and list software leftover, and to uninstall the data.
