I ran both the Registry Information tool in jv16PT and dureg and came up with two different size for the registry.

Which one is the correct size?

The same question i did ask to Yamicsoft. The prgr Windows 7 manage produced for a nearly naked OS windows 7 64 bit, the first time 280 MB.

After compression it was 170 MB.

But done thesame with Registar Registry manager, gives 53 MB.

The answer i got : Because our program scans more hives in Registry than other programs.

Here is a tip from PowerTools:

The Registry Info tool shows you the size of the registry structure, in other words, how much data the registry contains. The Registry Compactor shows different values because it shows the size of the files which store the registry on disk.

These storage files are usually much larger than the actual data the registry contains because the storage files contain a lot of metadata, such as the registry key structure, security settings and so on.

Dureg shows maybe the same size as the Registry Compactor.

Thanks, Vasek, that's probably it.

Comparing the sizes of Registry Compactor and Dureg, I see they are just about equal.
