Initial setup question

During initial setup, as part of installation of the product, jv16 PT makes backups of some registry hives. As far as I can tell, these backups are never modified thereafter. On the other hand, the registry itself changes often. If after some time, say several months after installation, jv16 PT needs to restore any of the backups, it is likely that there will be wide differences between the current registry and the backup taken months ago. Therefore the restored hive will not suit the current state of Windows and thus cause instability.

You are correct. These backups are created just in case.

If you wish to create updated version of the backups, you can use Backup tool > Tools > Create Custom Backup Of... > Critical Windows ... feature. This will create a new backup which you can then access from the Backup tool itself. The backups created by the Initial Setup are not listed in the Backup tool (they can be restored only via the Tools menu), which is not very intuitive, now that I think of it.
