No error msgs! I write the post, attach the screenshot, and click Submit.

I then get a msg that it was posted successfully but I never see it again?

Everything is working as sold.

The six files in question are Avast folders---------- protected.

They won't delete. They can't because of the protection!

My point... the Avast folders are from an AV app.

I have checked to leave A/V and malware apps unscanned thus they shouldn't be listed in the first place.

If I check the files to Fix nothing happens. PT would run forever I think???

When I'm trying to FIX the six Avast files and hit ABORT, it sometimes crashes PT (back to black screen)

I hope that makes sense?

The two"health" meters on the main screen appear to be swapped or at least incorrectly aligned!

The meters indicate 47% and 73% and respectively for pc health and registry health. This assumes that the labels are properly aligned UNDER the meters

The hints below the Meters tell me that the health score

for my computer is 73 out of 100

for my registry is 47 out of 100

This does not match the apparent values on the meters!

Despite the checked 'Anti-Virus Anti-Malware' box in the 'Additional Safety' options, jv16PT 2011 Clean & Fix my Computer(CFMC) still tries to remove empty files/directories that are under control of Avast/Alwil. But Avast/Alwil prevents/blocks this and that stops/freezes CFMC, which in my opinion should not happen .

A (temporary) working solution is to add the keywords Avast and Alwil to the CFMC 'Ignore words' option.

You should try the same because your problem looks very much alike.

EDITED: Yes, text or numbers for 'health score of your computer'' and 'health score of your Windows registry' in the bottom section : are indeed swapped!

The meter colors are the indicator (and the %number). The colors run from red/orange/yellow/green.

The files generated by Alwil/Avast that appear as Empty folders are not part of the current Avast install.

I used Move on Boot and managed to remove four out of the six empty folders. Alwil and the subfolder Avast remain and remain locked!

Avast still works fine! (so far???)

There are several possible solutions that I'm going to try to get rid of those remaining two files.

1. An Unlocker type app?

2. Safe Mode?

3. Uninstall the current Avast application, edit the registry and remove all references to Alwil/Avast. This should unlock those two folders in Docs and Settings.

Strangely, I get a score of 100%/100% even with those six Avast folders showing in the scan and NOT checked to fix.

Now with four of the six removed, I still get a perfect score in both areas.

I'm having a hard time with that math!!!

Regarding those empty avast folders in temp directories:

It seems the folders are not removed by PowerTools or PTLite because they are marked as shared.

Since apparently avast doesn't use them any more, you can just delete them with windows explorer. You will get this message:

We are discussing different sets of files. Maybe a different OS? I'm running XPRo64 and the Alwil folder for Avast is in Docs and Settings.

See the screenshot I posted previously. The files in that Alwil/Avast/*.* folder are not shared......... they are locked by Alwil and cannot be removed by Windows Explorer.

As I said previously, I used MoveonBoot to remove four of the six folders but haven't had time yet to get to the remaining two, which are still Locked and MoveonBoot can't delete.

You are right. I looked, and with Windows 7, part of the main folder Documents and Settings is now located at a main folder named ProgramData.

I have the empty folders at C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\NAME (NAME=fw, integ, journal, and moved, plus backup, but not spool and not spool\suspic).

They do not appear on my C&FMC list. Probably the program is not currently analyzing C:\ProgramData.

If a future version starts to do so, and still fails to recognize Alwil Software as an AV product, I will use Ignore words to keep them off the list.

I just got back to this machine after it has been setting idle for several hours.

An error msg on the screen which I don't recognize. I have never seen anything like this before???

In this case, running in DEBUG mode, there should be a file called Bugreport.txt (containing the Access Violation error) in the PTLite 2011 installation director.

The developer(jv16) would like to have this Bugreport.txt with the Debug Log.html from your desktop in a zipped file as an 'uploaded attachment' to this forum thread.

I disagree with your approach to the problem.

We are beta testing an application that is supposed to clean your PC and registry.

The program includes an option to exclude AV and malware type programs.

Alwil/Avast is one of those programs and I elected to ignore it.

Upon scanning six folders containing the files and folders for Avast turn up on the Fix list.

BINGO........... that's a BUG!

Regardless of our disposition of those six folders they should have been IGNORED. End of story.

The folders are unneeded and I have managed to removed four out of six!

I shall endeavor to remove the other two.

I have three other protected files on the IGNORE list already. I shall remove those also, if I can find them and unblock them.

With three files on the IGNORE list it is too long already!

The problem you encountered is known already for 2-3 months from testing the jv16PT2011 FULL versions v2.0.0.1007 and v2.0.0.1009.

I am pretty sure that Tullik and several other beta testers (me included) and hopefully jv16, see this problem indeed as a BUG!

As long as this bug is not fixed the temporary solution/bypass is to add file relevant keywords to the CFMC 'Ignore words'
