neal681 wroteI tried it on another disk drive and got the same error message. I will try it on a flash drive and see what happens.

Based on the fact that the test with the USB Flashdrive worked, I assume that the other disk drive you mentioned above was also part of your W7 Home Network group?

Yes it was part of the network.

I will submit this bug report:

ID: xxxxxx

Bug summary: The irsetup installer gets a "Parameter incorrect" error with the disks in a Windows 7 HomeGroup.

Description: Please refer to this Forum topic: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=27979#p27979 by user neal681.

There is a workaround. Namely:

If you don't have a hard drive unknown to the HomeGroup, perhaps you have a USB port that is not in the HomeGroup.

If so, let's try something else real simple to see if the error persists.

  • 1. Create an empty folder named aaa on a USB flash drive (inserted in M:\, for example).

    2. Copy jv16pt_setup_hb.exe to the flash drive.

    3. Run it from the flash drive.

    4. At Capture 5.jpg, replace C:\Program Files (x86)\jv16 PowerTools 2011 with M:\aaa, then click Next.

    5. When I do that, the installation downloads three handbooks (three languages) and proceeds normally, installing successfully to the aaa folder on the flash drive.

    6. Do you still get the error?

If this works,

  • 1. it is very likely that irsetup can not currently work with HomeGroup sharing. Macecraft can take the matter up with Indigo Rose Software.

    2. In the meantime, you would have a workaround. Namely, copy M:\aaa to C:\aaa and run jv16PT.exe from there (C:\aaa\jv16PT.exe). Everything should work except the uninstaller.

Version 2.0.0.1007 with x64 Windows 7 (SP1)

Is W7 HomeGroup that uncommon or do other users "give up", without finding there way to either this forum or support ?

That was my reason for not using HomeGroup. I tried it only briefly until I found XP and Vista were not included.

Don't know if this thread is still being monitored, but I just developed the exact same problem.

I have more computer experience than the previous user, and believe the issue is related to security settings on the c:\drive.

Do you have anything else to try?

If you have a solution for this "jv16 installer problem on a disk that is shared in a W7 Home Group" please describe it on this forum thread.

But I do not know if the users tullik and neal681 are still monitoring this forum thread.

Is the population standard deviation considered a parameter? I know that the variance is a parameter, and that the standard deviation is just the square root of the variance. But is it a parameter as well?
