CFMC & Registry Cleaner Crashing on Every Opening

This is on Windows 7 SP1 x64 Professional, PT Build 1007

Out of the blue, running Clean and Fix or Registry Cleaner (most aggressive mode) results in an immediate crash of these functions. Oddly this was not happening until today. And was not happening with SP1 which I installed on 22-Feb-11.

I tried completely uninstalling jv16 (totally). However, now when the irsetup runs, it encounters access violation errors and cannot install jv16. I rebooted into SAFE MODE and was able to re-install jv16. However, the crashes continue.

These crashes are not occurring on Windows 7 SP1 x86 Professional.

I just discovered what is causing this issue. Avira's AVGUARD (memory realtime guard) is causing jv16pt.exe to crash. Disabling AntiVir Guard lets jv16 registry cleaner and CFMC run without failure. So Avira has joined the ranks of Comodo as not liking what jv16pt.exe is doing when it runs in memory. Gotta be something strange that jv16 does that these big AV suites are not liking it.

Also I did a jv16 uninstall and re-install with AntiVir Guard disabled and irsetup.exe ran just fine. :?

However, Jouni, if you think this may be an issue with jv16's protection module, then you may need to get with these developers and let them know what jv16 is doing so that they can accommodate it.

On further testing, Avira is blocking any function within jv16 when jv16 attempts to write a .dat file back into the program folder. I really do not think it is picking specifically on jv16 but HOW (the method/technique/process) jv16 is doing what it is doing. At any rate, jv16 should not crash; it should at least ask for a retry. Of the hundreds of programs I have on my system, jv16 is the only one that is incurring the wrath of Avira....at least that I have encountered thus far.

I have found the root cause of this problem with jv16 PowerTools. It is not a problem with jv16 or Avira. I have isolated it to a real-time guard conflict between Avira and SuperAntiSpyware V5.0. It is the pre-release test version of SAS V5.0 that is causing the problem and is preventing other programs from performing their normal writes because their files are found busy.

I still, however, contend that jv16 has a bug in it because it crashes instead of requesting a RETRY under these conditions.

Sum and substances...my "bad" for no isolating this more quickly to the real-time guard component of SAS V5.0 pre-release test version. :

The possibility of causing some problems is typical for software test versions, isn't it?
