I downloaded the pdf handbook and put it in the programs Help folder. I then ran the program and noted that the Handbook icon appears at the top right part of the screen and contains a circle surrounding ? However, when I press the icon nothing happens! Is there something else I must do to be able to access the Handbook from the program interface?

Not that I know of, clicking on the handbook icon brings out the handbook.

Did you Close/Start jv16PT after putting the handbook .pdf in the Help folder?

Many thanks for your response.

Yes I did close the program and then re-start but still nothing. Since yours works correctly then I shall try a complete re-install to see if that fixes the problem.

I have now uninstalled jv16PT, restarted the PC and installed jv16 PT. The program directory shows that the Handbook is installed in the help folder and when I double click it the Handbook opens as a pdf and I can read everything. However, clicking on the Handbook Icon of the opened program still does nothing. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and wonder if this might be the problem. Do you have an other suggestions?

Unfortunately I do not have a W7-64bit system at my disposal, perhaps other W7-64bit users have idea's/experience?

When I click on the Handbook icon the pdf-file opens properly.

@Stankay: what about other pdf-files: can you open them when clicking on their icon? Maybe there's something wrong with the file association...

I have tried several other pdf files and they all open correctly.

Incidentally, I forgot to mention that in addition to having Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit I also have the final release of SP1.

With 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium, a click on the handbook icon opens the handbook.

Could it be language related like the System Manager crash issue? I am using only English for both the Handbook and jv16PT 2.0.0.1007

I'm using Win7 Ultimate 64 bit also and like I wrote I have no problems opening the Handbook file by clicking on the icon.

It looks like the only difference between our two systems is that I have SP1 and you do not. Perhaps that is the cause of the problem?

Since several people with similar systems to mine report that jv16 PT works fine then clearly something was wrong with my system. I have now formatted my PC hard drive and re-installed Windows 7. Now I am delighted to report that jv16 PT works as it should. This proves that my system was a t fault. I wish I knew what was wrong !!!

Many thanks for all the help that you have provided.
