Did you install jv16 Power Tools 2010 build 986 in the directory X:\TEMP\PT10986\ ?

You should not install data and programs you are using for longer than 1 day in directories named in any way ...TEMP...

Temp directories are subject to File/History/System cleaning actions.

Does the fille X:\TEMP\PT10966\Settings\HistoryCleaner.xdat still exist?

Can you do a compleet uninstall of jv16 PT 2010 build 986, if necessary only keep the BackUps (check the box), do not keep the Settings (uncheck the box).

After that install jv16PT the default way and look what happens now when running History Cleaner.

It now looks like an authorization issue. What version of windows are you using, XP, Vista 32/64 or W7 32/64?

Than I do not understand the problem. I am running XP-SP3 too but I can uninstall/install build 986 and run History cleaner without a problem.

Only difference I can see is that you are using the 60 day Trial version and I have a license! Did you download your jv16PT b986 directly from the http://www.macecraft.com site? Can you successfully run other tools in jv16PT b986, besides HistoryCleaner?

Only HistoryCleaner have this problem.

The files in the C:\Program Files\jv16PT2010_b986\Settings\ director represent the settings of 'all' the jv16PT tools you used. Because you were never able to run 'HistoryCleaner', you do not (yet) have the file HistoryCleaner.dat. The file timestamp indicates the date+time the tool was run.

Do you use a memory resident AntiVirus and/or Guard program, which could prevent access to the file HistoryCleaner.xbat?

In the Settings sub-directory you get the following files, after a new/clean install of jv16 Power Tools 2010 build 986.

Could you try and put the filename 'HistoryCleaner.xdat' or even better 'jv16PT.exe' (without the quotes) in an Symantec AntiVirus Exclude/Ignore list?

I do not use Symantec AntiVirus, so I can not point you to the right spot to do this.

If so, the last thing I can think of is the file HistoryCleaner.xdat being damaged during download or the expansion.

In that case, as a last resort, you could try:

1.re-download jv16PT2010-build 986 from http://www.macecraft.com,

2.Uninstall jv16PT2010 completely, keep nothing,

3.Install jv16PT2010-build 986 again using the new download!

Last thing to do: You can run jv16PT2010 in DEBUG mode (press Ctrl+Shift key, DEBUG appears in main window menu bar, click DEBUG, enable Debug mode, and restart jv16PT). On the desktop appears the Debug Log.html icon. Now only execute the HistoryCleaner tool. After the error "can not access HistoryCleaner.xdat" appears, close jv16PT2010, .zip the Debug Log.html and attacht the .zip file to this forum thread.

Hopefully the developer (jv16) can see why HistoryCleaner.xdat can not be accessed.
