Who is the authority for this?

Common sense. If you have, basically, a folder which name implies "it's ok to delete these files"....

Not my definition of what a temp directory is!! You make too many assumptions!

Wikipedia wrote
In computing, a temporary folder or temporary directory is a directory used to hold temporary files. Many operating systems and some software automatically delete the contents of this directory at bootup or at regular intervals.

That definition probably means temporary folders in system areas.

I too have private temporary folders, but give them indicative names like "Later," "Maybe never," "Installs deferred," or "PT2011 testing."

To each his own.

I should be the one to decide what gets wiped and what is ignored.

And you are. That is why PowerTools (both jv16 and Lite) shows you all the files it thinks are safe to remove and lets you decide.

Indeed. The files even in the own created folders with "temp" or "tmp" in their names are never deleted automatically by jv16 PowerTools or PowerTools Lite. They are just listed and the user decides what has to be done with those listed files. When the user decides they must be removed, even then he has the option to let the program make backups which can be restored if necessary.

Really? I must have missed that listing.
