Windows 7 x64 Pro and Windows 7 x86 Pro.

I request that a Safety Feature be added to Program Maintenance>Flush Cache. If a user flushes cache via Program Maintenance, automatically force a restart of jv16 to rebuild cache after cache is flushed.

Reason:

1. If a user flushes cache and then runs Registry Cleaner without out rebuilding cache, Registry Cleaner can find numerous false errors.

2. If a user flushes cache, closes jv16, and then runs Registry Cleaner via a desktop shortcut, Registry Cleaner can find numerous false errors.

I typically flush and rebuild cache if I make a major change to my system....for example, changing internet security suites or removing specific programs from the system.

Could you list some of these false errors so I could take a closer look?

This is on Windows 7 x64 with nVidia 8800 GTX and latest nVidia software.

1. Run Clean and Fix. Clean out all present detections.

2. Open jv16 and flush cache. Close jv16

3. Run Clean and Fix via a desktop shortcut.

4. The errors below, if cleaned, will kill the nVidia software. Plus the other detections are false.

Perhaps the PM>Flush Cache hot button should be changed to PM>Flush and Rebuild Cache :

Sorry, we encountered an error while displaying this content. If you're a user, please try again later. If you're an administrator, take a look in your Flarum log files for more information.

Does the file path in the screenshot exist?

Actually nvcpluir.dll does not exist. I am attaching the HKCR and HLKM exported registry keys. You will see that this is pointing to nvcplui.exe which does exist.

If I let jv16 clean these keys, then the control panel function nvcplui.exe cannot be found and the nVidia control panel will not open when I click on the nvidia control panel shortcut and an error message stating that nvcplui.exe cannot be found.

Plus jv16 registry clean finds these errors ONLY if the cache has not been rebuilt. This quirk is 100% repeatable on my x64 system.

On an x64 Windows 7 system

I ran "flush cache" twice in a row. The generated files are attached.

I note the following:

  • 1. The files "ProgramDirs.dat" and "SearchDirs.dat" are identical. Is this a redundancy, or might they differ with other renditions of windows?

    2. The size of "FileCache.dat" varies by scores, sometimes even by a couple of hundred, of KB in successive runs, even those run one after another. jepe pointed this out early in the betas, and it is still that way.

Cache (after flush #1).zip

Cache (after flush #2).zip

This issue should be fixed in the next release, thank you for reporting!
