I'm using jv16 PowerTools 2010 (build 976) and I'm trying to wipe free space only on my server. Here are the specs of my hard drive:
Used space: 4.57 GB
Free space: 3.89 GB
Capacity: 8.46.GB
When I wipe free space on this hard drive with Mutilate File Wiper it takes an hour or so to complete the task.
After only 20 minutes of wiping my server's hard drive with jv16 PowerTools 2010 (build 976) there is no "Data Written" (0 MB) and also there's no "Speed" (0 MB / sec.).
Confirmed with XP-SP3 and build 976:
Wiping "only free space" on my small D:\ disk runs for 1-3 sec, during that time the write speed is 40-80MB/sec, but after these 1-3 sec the wiping stops!
From that moment on, the already written data is averaged out over the running time interval. So after ~20 minutes the write speed is ~ 0 MB.
