What would you like to get for PowerTools 2011?

I do not like the possibility for adding a "Wipe" feature to the file context menu of Windows explorer either. I think there are actually enough possibilities to wipe a file in the PowerTools.

jv16 PowerTools shouldn't add features to the Windows Explorer's file context menu at all.

As jv16 PT lacks Context Menu (i.e. Right-Click Menu) Wiping,

I've used ACE Utilities or Eraser (Freeware) in different Windows 7-PCs.

No error when you right-click "Computer" and then select "Manage" (Windows 7).

There are users who experienced that error and others who didn't. Anyway...

There is already too much software that's integrating with the system such as adding features to the context menu(s). jv16 PowerTools shouldn't be another one :

Under windows vista and XP, I did a lot of tests installing printer with different driver printers and different names. I created at least 20 or 30 printers wtih the same driver but differents names, with different driver, with different configuration... And I kept finally only 3 of them. When I search in the registry the name of a printer, I found all of the them. It seems tha windows do not clean the registry when ou delete a printer.

I tried jv16 PowerTools 2010, the Registry Cleaner, but it seems that it does not clean obsolete printer entries (printers and drivers printers not used anymore) in the registry (even if I choose the most aggressiv mod).

I wish the 2011 version can do it (or is it a bug?).

The suggestions of our friend 212eta are all against the "Design Goals" of Macecraft Software as described on page 5 of the English Handbook 2011. Just read the goal nr. 3:

"3. User friendliness. Our software is a guest on your computer, and our program should act

accordingly. This means that jv16 PowerTools does not integrate to your system, does not fill

your system directories with its files, and does not automatically start with the Windows

operating system. If you choose to uninstall jv16 PowerTools, nothing is left behind."

That's what makes Macecraft Software so different from other so called "popular and successful Apps" 8)

It is very characteristic the fact that -Whenever someone DARES to propose X, you and the rest ones massively attack.

No, jv16 PT does Not need this, does Not need that etc.

Resistance to Change and Self-Complacency.

As far as the "Design Goals" of Macecraft Software, they -ALSO- Need to Change and Adopt to Market Competition!

For many people, jv16 PT has been evolved into Bloatware:

-jv16 PT has Tools it shouldn't (Almost Nobody uses them)

and at the same time,

-jv16 PT LACKS Tools it Should have (As I wrote this isn't the Time to Discuss it).

Maybe, you need to know that the general idea for jv16 PT is Not that Bright Lately:

If you believe that -jv16 PT/Macecraft is on the Right Track and that NO Change is Needed- keep on going that way.

It is the samw way that makes users -like the above WildersSecurity member- to write things against jv16 PT.

Wilders Security as well as several Security and Maintenance Fora are full of Comments like the above!

I feel unhappy every-time I read these Comments against jv16 PT.

Maybe I should have Ignore them and Pretend that everything is great with jv16 PT

and that jv16 PT needs Nothing to Change!

Just a statement like this is not really helpful. Which are the tools "almost nobody is using" and what are the tools lacking? You previously mentioned only one function and you seem to have trouble handling the following discussion. This is what this forum thread is all about! My guess is that Macecraft would probably love to meet "persons", who could speak for 'almost all users' on which functionality is needed or not. Personally I do not use most of the File Tools, but I do not dare to say that this is probably true for 'almost all users'.

As far as I can see this is a complaint mainly about quality control: "still (too) many bugs at the time of release of new builds/versions".

It does not say anything about 'bloatware" and/or "missing functionality".

That's simply not true. We don't "attack".

Is it forbidden perhaps to react to some proposals with our own opinion and refer to Macecraft's development policy?

If I don't like third party software to integrate with my system, haven't I the right to say that?

Besides IMHO Macecraft has the right to follow its own policy which maybe can be different from other software developers, and then...?

If other users don't like Macecraft's policy (and they have also the right to do so) they are not forced to use the software, but they shouldn't force Macecraft either to give up its own policy and steer the same (wrong?) course of others.

A simple compromise would be just to have a system context-menu option to wipe files and folders that the user can enable within PowerTools. In other words, when you install PowerTools it doesn't install this feature by default, but the user can opt in to do so.

This solution seems rather hypocrite and renounces Macecraft's policy described in my previous post :?

"The software doesn't integrate to your system and blablabla, but if you want to it does..." :

Then who still cares about that nice policy of Macecraft? Words, words, words...

But as always the developer has the final word and I'm afraid he's afraid of the competitors yet :(
