I've been paid user of jv16 over the years, but not recently. I get email from macecraft to try 2010 version.

I downloaded 2010 and then updated to build 966.

I'm trying to run jv16_2010 on w2k_sp4, but I get popup

"system error. Code: 87. the parameter is incorrect"

that immediately repeats itself if I take action, eg, "continue"

I've sent email to support and get no reply. I've updated the support msg webpage, and still no reply.

I sent bugtracker report with debug file, and no acknowledgment macecraft is working on it.

I've read at least 2 other bugtracker reports that refer to this same error 87, and first macecraft

blamed 3d-party installer, and then in another that earlier version (pre-966) "fixed" this error.

Well I'm seeing exactly the same problem in build 966 on my w2k_sp4 so it is not really fixed.

But I'm posting this because I get no reply from macecraft about this, which surprises me since I have been a

registered user and they solicit my business.

I also tried chat which on one page says 24/7 and on another link says its 5a to 5p central time, and I've

tried chat several times during the supposed valid times, and always I get a reply that there is no operator

available to chat. Anyone know why I hearing nothing from any type of support? I see someone username

jv16 posts here, perhaps that user knows. I can be more specific with email support tracking no.

So far I've not rec'd bugtracking no, and no macecraft email is getting lost in spam, my mail server holds

what it considers to be spam and I review it. So I am clueless at the lack of support.

if jv16 does not work properly in w2k, well then do not advertise on your home page that it does.

some feedback would be appreciated. thanks

Normally it should run with Windows 2000.

Try the newest version 2.0.0.970 of jv16 PowerTools 2010. It addresses quite some problems.

You can download it on the download section of the Macecraft website.

I have seen in Bugtracker BugID 552676 about "System error code; Parameter is incorrect".

Only the developer (=jv16) can explain this further, but I understood that solving this "System error code 87" is outsite the control of jv16 Power Tools.

You could give the latest version 2.0.0.970 a try and keep us informed on this forum thread.

The issue in question is in our Bug Tracker. I'm still a bit lost what to do about the problem because there doesn't seem to be any way for me to reproduce the issue, I can run PowerTools 2010 under Windows 2000 without any problems.

Is there debug data that could be collected to help you?

Appreciate the replies here!

I will try build 970 (must be new with the past 48 hours?)

I did send my debug html to bugtracker (without comment).

The two bugtracker posts re error 87 were with w2k, as is mine. Unclear why not reproducible at tech support.

And the two bugtracker posts also declared this fixed, but as noted by the 2d of those two, it was not fixed,

and clearly I also see this bug.

Is chat not working? Or do operators see the issue and say they are not available?

I do not fault jv16 for having a bug or for not working with w2k, but the silence from support was "deafening" and

unnecessary IMO.

If & when I solve it, I'll let you know.
