Hi

"If you wait a while (~1-2 min) before using Task Manager to close, do you than get an application error screen: "Program Freeze?"

Yes, I get the application error screen if I do not use Task Manager to close the application.

Interestingly, I find that if after using PT .966 I give it 10-15 seconds (after finishing its actions) before closing, it does seem to then close properly using 'EXIT' or 'X'. Also, if I just open the application but do not use any of its functions, apart from those listed under the 'Help' section i.e. 'Update' 'Visit Online discussion forum' etc, the program again closes properly.

Cheers

I wonder if the 'Freeze' application error you encountered is the same or similar to the one I reported in: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4183#p25292

Hi

Just as an update to my issue; I can now confirm that as long as I wait approx 10-seconds after PT .966 has finished its actions, I can close the application without any difficulty using 'EXIT' or 'X'. This 10-second wait coincides with the processor fans on my laptop slowing down which probably means that for some reason PT is still 'working' even though it appears to have finished its actions. The processor fans speed up when PT is performing its actions and slow down to normal around 8-10seconds after it appears to have finished; this is when it can be closed normally without 'freezing'.

Hope this helps in some way.

Cheers

Hi

Just downloaded the new .966 version and it behaves in exactly the same way as described above. I have to open Task Manager to close the program down!!!

Still using Windows 7 Home premium.

According to the Debug Log you sent, you are using the Russian translation of the program. Could you try to switch the program back to English, does this make a difference?

In any case, the Debug Log has given me a good idea where the bug is. I'll try to pinpoint it and get it fixed today.

Hi jv16

Thanks for the reply and I'm glad that the debug log has helped. However, I am certainly not using a 'Russian Translation' of the program and it is already in English which is my only fluent language???

Cheers

You are correct, of course. My mistake, the Debug Log says that the problem occurs when the program reads the Russian translation. I assumed that you are using the translation but you are not, the Russian translation is read in order to display it under the Language menu of the Main Window.

A workaround to the problem would be to remove all other translations than English. You can do this from Main Window > Tools > Program Maintenance > "Delete translations" (the first button). If you decide to do this, please let me know if it works.

I'm working on a proper fix in the meantime.

This issue should now be fixed, thank you all for reporting! A private test build with this fix included will be released here: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4188 shortly (when we get the list related Access Violation fixed).

An official release with the fix included should be released within two weeks. It depends on how long it will take to get the other issue fixed.

Hi jv16

Thanks again for the update.

I removed the translations as instructed but I am sorry to say that PT .966 still freezes if closed immediately after it finishes its actions. As before, if I wait for 8-10 seconds (CPU fans slow down also) then the program closes without any problems.

Hope this helps

Could you send a new Debug Log and BugReport.txt now? I'd be interested to see the difference since you have now removed the other translations.

Thank you very much! The data is quite conflicting, the first set of debug data suggested that something goes wrong in the process of reading translation files. The second set of debug data suggests that the issue has nothing to do with translation files but the list control.

My best guess is that there are two bugs in play here, the first relating to translation files and the second to the list control.

I have already made some changes that I hope fixes the first issue. And we are at the moment working on a fix to the latter issue, you can follow its development here: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4188

A private test build with these issues fixed will be released in that thread hopefully in a few days. I want to release such a preview build to make sure we got the issue fixed.

Hi jv16

Thanks again for the update.

I am sure you will get the problems fixed and I will follow the process on the link you provided.

Please let me know when/if you require any further information.

Cheers

It seems that there is likely an easily repeatable History Cleaner List Data bug involving the list control.

Look here for debug info; perhaps it will help: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=26&p=25437#p25437
