Windows 7 x64 Professional

Today I updated my Creative Sound Blaster drivers. The installer inserted a startup entry in HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RUN and the entry is named CTxfiHlp.exe. I've attached a picture showing it in the registry. Jv16's startup manager does not display this entry. MSConfig and a competitive product's startup manager do. Note that even though there is no path shown for CTxfiHlp.exe, it is started and is running in memory. (I typically remove this startup entry because it is an unnecessary startup program.). Ctxfihlp.exe is actually located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder.

I guess this is one more time a question of UAC privileges in a protected system directory, namely C:\Users\...\

And now forum buddies, I will leave you for a couple of weeks! Good luck with testing...and I hope everything will be fine with jv16 PowerTools 2010 when I am back. Meanwhile I'll keep working on the Dutch translation hoping it'll be ready for the final PT2010.

You have to reboot once more after the Registry Compactor has completed to release these files. Apparently Registry Compactor Phase 2 locks them and does not release them until a reboot has occurred.

Actually I removed yesterday ALL antivirus products from my XP system, because I wanted to test another product.

After the regular products uninstall I used build 947 Registry Cleaner and Registry Finder to clean the remaining parts after uninstall.

For firewall I use (for years) Zonealarm Free, current version = 9.1.007.002.

From the beta7 testing blog I found that a previously run I made with build 946 "Registry Compaction thru Boot" finished without any problems!!

But NOW all builds 942/943/944/946/948 display in the phase-1 boot DOS box the error message:

"Failed to get full access to the registry! Aborting......"

(For build 942 and 943 the registy entry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\setup" had to be reset in order to run registry compactot during boot!)

So propably the problem is caused by my XP system?

First post here so pls bear with me. Referred here after seemingly incurable fault with 2009 on my 32 bit Win 7, which would never go past Fix. Stopped there and nothing got fixed. Installed 2010 948 this morn sent to me by jv16 software tech. Have accessed all of options and tools and was asked to write my results and include screenshots, which I have done. Briefly, all choices seem to work, but did not try to Compact. Did find that Startup Mgr shows fewer programs than Revo. Registry Info says "the smaller score you get the closer your system is to an install fresh system". Not clear if it means less is better or worse. All other tools seem clear, however many pages have/show only parts of the letters of the last line of info or instruction. Service Mgr looks fine, but not clear what Optimize is for or what it does. Had just a few check marks in place but no reason why. No Enable button to start/run the item if wanted. System Optimizer seemed to work as I made changes and maybe saw a diff after re-boot. Reg Cleaner worked OK, BUT generated error for Registry Junk (on screen shot with page being cleaned behind it). Occurred twice with two diff degrees of 'safety'. Otherwise it fixed all the rest just fine. Direct Finder, File Tools (good options), File Organizer, Recovery and Cleaner appeared to be fine. Privacy tools good as well. In Finder,Tools,Organizer and Recovery the word "Add" is used instead of "Browse", which is more specific IMHO to what is supposed to be done. I realize the results are the same but maybe it is just a western US thing. A great program is just getting better, apparently. Roving

Very difficult to say what's the problem, and the Log.txt didn't give me any ideas. But I added some debug code to the Registry Compactor around the general location, and starting from the next version it will print to screen (and log file) the error message returned by Windows. If it is in fact Windows that denies access to the registry, as it seems.

I used the Registry Compactor (b. 948) and now it keeps trying to open the registry files during every boot up and fails to do so.

Can I remove the ever-pending/never-ending job somewhere or can I just run it again on build 950?

My rig: Win7 Ultimate 64 bit

Running the program's uninstaller should fix this. If it doesn't, please let me know and I can give you instructions how to fix this manually.

Or, simply installing the new RC1 version and just running it should also solve the problem.
