On both Win 7 x86 and Win 7 x64 Professional with dual monitors, the various windows of jv16 open "all over the place". This is the only program on my two computers that displays this quirk.

I have now attempted to address this issue, please give the next version a try and let me know how that goes. Thanks!

One of the fixes that was supposed to be already fixed is the jagged icon of jv16. It is still present and is the icon that appears on the desktop of Win 7 x64 and x86. The pic below shows it as the default icon for jv16.

Problem confirmed. However, these items do get translated if you restart the program after changing the language, that is why I didn't spot this.

Problem now fixed, thank you for reporting! When I'm testing whether the GUI is fully translated, I tend to use the X_English, that is, open the program with the X_English selected already, that is why I missed this issue.

You are correct. Hukka is trying to fix this issue, I also added it to the Change Log's "Fixes in the making" section.

In the grouping "Registry Errors / Invalid file or directory reference," when you select just some of the lines, then do "Remove," the entire grouping drops from the list.

I tried a few times to replay this with XP-Pro-SP3 and jv16PT-b938 but (fortunately) this does NOT happen with XP-PRo.

Running XP-Pro-SP3 with jv16PT2010_beta6_b938:

I have made several testruns with Registry Compaction thru the BOOT process.

All runs seem to complete ok, however on the SECURITY hive the following messages appear:

1.Security hive size is 256KB

2.Compacted size is 56KB

3.Registry compaction is 77.6%

4.Compaction is too large! Aborting the Compact process

I ran Registry Compactor again and noticed there's unfortunately no possibility for the user to scroll back in the command-line window at the end of the process to look back at the results just before the final Enter.

You are correct. Hukka is trying to fix this issue, I also added it to the Change Log's "Fixes in the making" section.

This issue is finally now fixed, Hukka found the solution. The problem was with Delphi's resource file builder. Thank you for reporting!

That is correct, this is the reason why I added the additional "Press enter to continue" prompts. I'm afraid this seems to be a limitation of Windows, so there is nothing we can do. Except save space from the screen to avoid scrolling as much as possible. For example, I don't think there is any need to show the user the registry hive storage filename information.

I asked for dropping those "press to continue" prompts so the process continues automatically, but then it's difficult to follow the progress of the hive compacting, unless you insert a pause of some five or more seconds between each hive analysis and compacting (Leonardo did that suggestion).

Yeah, I'll try to find the best solution. But these things are all just fine tuning, the most important thing is that the new Registry Compactor seems to be working quite well now.

Agreed. I think the Registry Compactor is working now.

Sometimes however we get a message the compaction is too large for some hives. Why?

This is a safety feature: if the compacted hive seems to be a lot smaller than the original, the process is aborted. At the moment the threshold is 40%.

I'll have to do some testing to see if such feature is needed for very small hives.

Running XP-Pro-SP3 with jvPTb938:

The window size of the "Check for Update window" is most of the time severely truncated at the bottom.

The proper size (showing the 'close' button) flashed on screen for a split second and than the truncated window appears most of the time.

After trying several times, sometimes the proper size window appears. But I can NOT repeat it consistently.

The software uninstaller is not showing everything that is installed on the computer. When programs and features from the control panel in Windows 7 it is showing all that is installed on the computer. I have checked this out on my computer at home and the one I am using now to get on the internet. Is there something I need to do or is this a bug. I do have Revo Uninstaller installed and it shows more then power tool 2010 on the latest beta test. If there is anything I can do I will try when I get on the net. Thanks and keep up the great work you have done.

It is not showing Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010. So it looks so far that it is Microsoft stuff. Even there keyboard and mouse software is not showing up. Not sure where the visual C++ is installed. The keyboard and mouse are in C:\program files\ Microsoft IntelliPoint and C:\program files\ Microsoft Intelltype. That is it for starters. If any one else out there can help with there input that would be lots of help. I will take a closer look at it when I get some more time. Hope this helps you out.

I ran a quick comparison of Revo and jv16PT-b938 Uninstaller. For example b938 does not show all installed versions of .NET framework and Vision c++.

I mailed a screenshot of the Revo Uninstaller scan results and a Listfile of the jv16PT-b938 Uninstaller scan results to the private mail of the developer.

Just got back from a weeks holiday and installed build 938.

Everything seemed to be running fine until I ran Registry Finder, after finding what I was looking for I closed PT down which resulted in an access violation.

Bug Report attached.
