At last success with the Unit Test in build 936 :)

It went on for so long that the resulting debuglog is 76.5MB in size.

Running XP-Pro-SP3 with b936:

1. Registry Compact "without boot" just finished in a second, the hive sizes after compact are not filled in.

2. Registry Compact "with boot" comes with an access violation.

This is on Windows 7 x86 and x64 Professional, each with dual monitors. PT Build 936

All the windows and sub windows on B936 are opening on the far right of the screen instead of being centered on the primary monitor. The pgm does not remember the screen location of the windows and sub windows once they are manually moved to the center of the screen.

The Unit Test hangs indefinitely early in the test. ALSO when aborting the Unit Test and closing jv16, the program hangs in memory and has to be aborted via the Task Manager (happens on both x86 and x64)

Finally unit testing part completed without fatal errors. Although it still took 10921 seconds to complete. However the number of executed test cases were 1032833, when the last time I have attempted to run it. Out of memory error occurred around 1.7M th test case. So I suspect that the errors were detected in TestSettingsManager, rendered several of the unit test not get executed. Please find the report attached.

1. I miss the NO's in the startupmanager, while "Stasrtupfolder and basic registry items" is checked. No problem In 1.0.1.606.

2. Not possible to create a startup-file, so that the icon does appear in the systemtray, but the file does not start !!

ad question 1 is a serious question. Why not keeping the startupfiles when they are disabled but not removed. It makes live a bit easier if you need not recreating a startupfile. And it is very easy for controle. See the startup in JV16 2010 1.0.1.606.

ad question 2: When Windows starts, some programs are loaded by the startupmanager. These programs put an icon in the tray but do not start. Now I want the same for Acronis\TrueImage.exe. When Windows starts, I see an icon in the tray, but at the same time Acronis\TrueImage.exe starts and that is not what I want.

Is it up to you to arrange that, or is it to Acronis?

Registry Compactor crashes.

Registry Compactor ran. jv16_RegCompact_64.exe was created successfully in C:\Windows\System32.

- Selected all hives

- Clicked on Compact>Start

- The "Configuring...." window opened for ~15 seconds, closed, and the system rebooted automatically.

- Early in the reboot, jv16_RegCompact_64.exe ran. The black info displayed activity for ~5 seconds and then the reboot continued successfully.

- As to whether an actual compact occurred on all hives selected, I have no way of telling. HOWEVER, I doubt that my registry was in need of any compaction.

The registry cleaner on the most aggressive setting ran successfully on both systems.

I recommend the default settings on the Registry Cleaner>Additional safety have all the items check marked initially under Additional safety (Anti-Virus, Firewall, Server, and Backup).

The anti-malware module successfully scanned the C:\ drive. Several "Failed to Access" errors were reported on files in C:\Windows\System32. The debug log is attached. I could not find any other logs for this module....guess none are generated.

Version 2.0.0.936 on an x86 Windows 7 notebook

I ran the Unit Test. It ran to completion. Then I just did File-->Exit.

Unit Test results:

Time run: 21354 s.

Tests performed: 981005

Errors: 13 (All were of type "TestRDA: FNE rate of ab.cd is larger than accepted!").

Upon exiting, PowerTools did an Access Violation.

All the logs are in the attachment.

I suspect my Unit Test problem on both x86 and x64 computers is related to both computers having a Casper clone/backup disk .... which are in the GlobalIgnoreList. From examining my debug logs, it looks like PT Unit Test is generating a lot of garbage entries related to GIL. :(

I'm afraid I cannot answer your questions because I don't quite understand what you are trying to ask.

Yep, the Unit Test hang on my Windows 7 x86 and x64 systems was related to the GlobalIgnoreList. I removed all disks from the GIL and the test completed on both systems. x86 with no errors, x64 with 3 errors. Debug logs attached.

How can I be clearer than this:

How can I make a startup that settles in the tray without starting:

f.i. I start a NEW startup of Acronis TrueImage.exe in HCU-run. Now the icon is in the systemtray, but at the same time Acronis TrueImage.exe starts, and that is not wanted.

Is this up to you or up to Acronis?
