hangs on initial scan and gives msg the program is frozen. unable to create debug log but got a bug report on the desktop

ran revo uninstaller to clean up any remnants of install and reinstalled application

ran with minimal services & programs running, disabled av, ran on a domain computer but supplied local admin credentials via 'run as'

I could supply a process monitor log if requested, or any other debugging log file type if requested

my windows 7 64 bit workstation at home got further than my xp box at work

Three Abort cases:

1. During the scan. This one does not crash.

2. During the final analysis before populating the list. This crashes.

3. While removing and backing up files (for example). This crashes.

The attached logs are for case 2.

New beta build now available:

This build attempts to address two main problems of the Beta5:

1. The program not starting at all on some computers (or crashing to External Exception), and

2. The program crashing to Invalid Pointer Operation when closed, especially after running the Initial Setup.

This build does not yet attempt to address the problem of the Initial Setup freezing.

All previous builds have been removed from our server.

That's progress! I hope the freeze problem doesn't occur with all systems, at least with my test setups it only happens in one.

Thanks! I'll try to get the Initial Setup freeze problem fixed ASAP, but it can take a few days. I have been unable to solve the problem so far.

Build 785 would freeze during initial setup. Build 796 becomes unresponsive during installation.

What do you mean exactly? And does this unresponsiveness occur during the actual installation, or in the Tutorial part of the first run?

Although my problem with Win-XP-SP3 and jv16PT Beta5 was the Freeze in the task "Performing Initial Setup" (cpu usage 0-1% for minutes),

I just tried build 796.

NO FREEZE anymore in the task "Performing Initial Setup", but jv16PT.exe is now looping, 100% cpu load on one of my two cp's.

I let the jv16PT.exe run for over 15 minutes, than cancelled with Win-Task-Manager.

Debuglog of jv16PT.exe looping is attached.

UPDATE-1:

After a reboot and startup of build 796, the program FREEZES again in the task "Performing Initial Setup" (cpu usage 0-1% for minutes),

like it did before in the previous builds

UPDATE-2:

Uninstalled build 796, claened up, reinstalled and ran build 796. Now an access violation in jv16PT.exe during "Performing Initial Setup"

I had not previously had any installation, or initial setup problems, per se, and still don't.

The crash that happened every time the program ended seems to be fixed (so far, so good).

That terrible issue with the Backup Tool window is gone.

I get to the "Installing Files" screen and the program becomes nonresponsive. If I click on the title bar I get a message saying the program is "not responding".

UPDATE If I wait long enough the program installs. I then get the freeze message durting initial setup.

Here are two very minor GUI issues. The second one is not new with this version, but not reported by anyone previously AFAIK.

The first one seems to be new.

I switched over to my backup disk for the purpose of testing Registry Compactor. It crashed as soon as I confirmed that I wanted to compact and reboot.

The System Cleaner tool is gone in v.2.0.0.796. Will this be permanent? :|
