jv16 PowerTools 2010 Beta5 released!

Here is my first attempt to fix the program not starting up problem:

Please uninstall the previous Beta version before installing this version.

If the problem still exists, please send over the Debug Log and bugreport.txt files of this build. I also added some debug code so the Debug Log should contain more valuable information for me, if the problem still exists.

This beta build does not attempt to address any other reported issues, so no need to test them or re-report. I'll first try to fix the startup problem, after that it's time to move on to the smaller issues.

With XP-Prof SP3 at latest maintenance level; the beta5-build-780 version still freezes in the task "Performing Initial Setup" (I tried 3 times in a row)!

I just noticed that at least the Debug Log was created using the original Beta5, not the build 780. I can't say about the bugreport.txt, because that file doesn't contain the file version stamp, I'm afraid.

I will try it right now

After the windows freeze warning I replied 3 times continue the program. At the next freeze warning I closed the application.

So the program ran almost 10 minutes. I added the new DebugLog and Bugreport .zip files

Sounds like a real issue then. But I'm afraid this Debug Log is also created with the older build, 779, not with the new build 780.

This debug information was very interesting! According to the Debug Log, the problem is not that the program crashes when started. The problem is that the program closes automatically when started, and the crash occurs when the program closes (which is a Known Issue).

In other words, there are currently two issues:

1. The Initial Setup freezing, and

2. The program automatically closing / crashing when started.

Here is an updated beta build:

This build attempts to fix the problem you experience (issue number 2), and it also contains some more debug code in order to help me to fix the other problem (issue number 1).

Windows 7 x64 Professional, Build 782.

Attached are two sets of pgm crash logs. The program crashes after the initial scan of data and on the attempt to restart it. The second set is on closing after a reg clean exercise.

I forgot to mention this in the Release Notes, the File Encrypter is not working yet. This is due to the Delphi 2010 migration. Known Issues updated.

Both of these should be now working. The next released build will contain all these fixes.

The old problem of data caching accessing disks that are in the global ignore list is back. This is SearchDirs.dat which includes the G:\ drive that is in the Global Ignore list of disks.

I'm attaching bug report for the build 782. No debug log because this time I can't start it properly without a single success, as in the previous version. :|

Of course before I uninstalled the original beta 5 build.

To be clear: the program now starts up correctly, but after the Initial Setup there is a report of crash when the program is restarted? In other words, the program crashes when closed?
