JV16 2009 appears to kill Norton Internet Security 2010

I had a problem last week so ran Registry Cleaner on my WinXP SP3 machine. When I rebooted the NIS 2010 icon in the tray had disappeared and when I double clicked the NIS 2010 icon on the desktop it failed to start the programme and my machine's security had reverted to Microsoft. So I restored the previous cleanup, read the forum and added Norton and Symantec to the Ignore Words and repaired again, but to no avail. I am using setting 3 of 4 on the aggression scale. This problem renders JV 16 unusable for me.

What version of jv16 PowerTools you are using and are you using a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows XP?

Thank you for your reply. I am using 32 bit windows XP and JV 16 is V 1.9.1.606. Another aspect may be the fact that I bought an OEM NIS 2010 after running the genuine one for years, perhaps Symantec has invoked something on my machine to stop it working. Yesterday I bought a retail NIS 2010 bundled with Norton Utilities and so far after three registry cleans at levels 1, 2 and 3 it is still working. Maybe it is not JV 16, which I like. If when opening JV 16 the registry health says 100% does that suggest no cleaning is necessary?

If the Registry Health score shows 100% it means there are no errors found from the registry. The Registry Cleaner can still, if run, show up some results which were not counted to the Registry Health score.

If the problem still occurs, please let us know so we can try to fix the issue. Also, it's not recommended to run the Registry Cleaner with the aggressive scan setting.

Only the Default and Safe settings are recommended to be used, the two aggressive settings are only for testing purposes and the program warns against using them. The upcoming PowerTools 2010 contains even more warnings against using the two aggressive settings.
