I have jv16 PowerTools 2009 build 590 running on Windows XP SP 3.

When I close the program, whether from the File menu or from the Close button, it stays in memory. During this time, jv16PT.exe is using 99% of the CPU resources while occupying as much as 49 MB of memory. The only way to finally close the program is to kill it (End Process) in Windows Task Manager.

I would be grateful for any assistance to solve this issue.

Could you please verify that you have nothing in the Automation Tool? Also, does this happen every time, or for example after using a certain tool?

Greetings:

I have nothing in the Automation Tool.

I have not tested every component of PowerTools, but I can confirm that this problem does happen after I have used the Registry Cleaner (and actually made changes to the registry) and does not happen after I have used the Software Uninstaller (and actually uninstalled software.) Merely opening and closing the program does not cause this problem to happen.

Does waiting, lets say 5 minutes, do anything? That is, does the program actually quit in a few minutes or does it stay in the memory for good?

Could you also consider trying this one out: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3949

jv16PT.exe was still running at the 5-minute mark after using the Registry Cleaner.

I prefer not to install beta software.

I am satisfied to know that you are aware of the problem. I have also experienced the problem described in the link you provided. However, since I always backup PowerTools registry changes before committing them, it was easy to restore my system's prior functionality.

I trust you will eventually release an update for Power Tools 2009.

Hello,

Just to say that this behaviour seems not to be a general problem, as PowerTools .590 does close normally (after a short time ... ~15 sec) on my XP Home/SP3.

I can confirm what jepe wrote: no problem at all on my computer with closing jv16 PowerTools 2009.
