False positive

I have found a false positive with PT Lite scan.

It identifies the log files(.zulog) of Zsoft Uninstaller as history data to be removed. These files are the logs of the system changes when an application is installed. When using the Zsoft Uninstaller, the logs are use to remove all the files and registry items associated with the application being uninstalled. They are essential for the application to work.

I have used other cleaners, such as CCleaner and PureRa, and never had these files identified for removal.

I know that I can put Zsoft on the ignore list. However, I am wondering if there could be a fix for PT Lite to exclude these files. I believe this problem also applies to jv16 PT.

Could you please see whether jv16 PowerTools also lists this item? If it does, could you see which of the scan modules lists it? Also, what is the error description of the item exactly?

I tried jv16 PT and it also identified these items when I ran the History Cleaner.

All it says is Zsoft Uninstaller, 26 files, 0 registry items.

You could consider downloading Zsoft at http://www.zsoft.dk and install it. Then install some other app while Zsoft monitors (analyzes) the installation. This will create a zsoft log file which is the file your history cleaner identifies as needing to remove. Zsoft is freeware. This would allow you to replicate what I am experiencing.

We don't have a scheduled release date for the next version of PowerTools Lite, but a new version should be out within a few months.

The private testing of PowerTools 2010 is already underway and the public testing will start in a matter of a week or two. After that it usually takes between 30-60 days of beta testing and error fixing before the final version is ready. We are expecting the new version to be released before the end of December.
