Win XP with SP2 and am running 590. It launches fine, does the system check and I run registry cleaner. Finds some 700+ entries it can fix. Click the Fix button and it prompts me if I want to save. Regardless of whether I do or not, the fix progress dialog appears for a second and vanishes. Nothing happens. Removed the Symantec Antivirus, rebooted in safe mode, still won't fix.The Fix button just gives up.

Could you please create a debug log for me? That would allow me to see what's going on under the hood.

Thank you for the debug log, I see that there is something strange going on. I will have to debug this and get back to you.

I posted this on another thread and got the following reply:

A scan using registry clearner came up with about 1,000 errors. When I ask the program to fix these errors, all it does is to run for about 2 seconds and then disappear. I can do this as often as I like, but the program refuses to fix the errors. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program repeatedly and sometimes when I hit registry cleaner, it runs for a second or two and then says that have no errors. Other times, I run it and it comes back with close to 1,000 errors and then it refuses to fix any of the errors as described above. I have read the previous posts dealing with this problem and I see no reason why I should have to go into the registry and deal with arcane entries there in order for this program to work. If I wanted to get an advanced degree in computer science, I would have gotten one and then I wouldn't need this program -- what I thought I was buying was a program that would simply do what I paid it to do, i.e., check my registry and then fix the errors without a lot of tweaking by me. I am now stuck with a program thas is essentially worthless, since my main use for it is to check the registry for errors. It appears that I am not the only one having this problem -- I can only wonder how many people did not bother to even register their dissatisfaction, but simply bought another program that actually works. Which is what I am about to do. Any help would be appreciated.oldiesman100

Lets continue this here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3922

If you have purchased the program and you are not happy, please feel free to contact our customer care and ask for a refund. If you wish to help us the fix the problem, please do so in the thread above, no need to open a new thread. Thanks.

My response:

OK, now that I have complied with your procedural requirements, let's do try to resolve my issue. By the way, the clear implication on your homepage, when you are trying to sell your product, is that live support is available to everyone buying your product. It is only after one has bought your product and installed it that it becomes painfully obvious that there even is such a thing as 'VIP Support." What exactly is VIP support? How much does it cost, since you do not provide that information to prospective buyers? I don't expect a response to this question, but it's out there for viewers in this forum.

What are you going to do to resolve my issue described in my first paragraph?

I believe I have now found and fixed the problem. The fix will be included to the next released version, which will be the Beta1 of PowerTools 2010 released later in this month. I'm afraid you will have to wait for that.

The live support is available for all customers. The VIP prices are visible in our online store (http://www.macecraft.com/buy-now/), the premium technical support included in the VIP package simply means that any messages you sent to our technical support will be automatically placed on the top of the list so they will be handled first.

This bug, which I thought had been fixed in 606, has not been or there's a new similar bug. I would like to send you debug logs, but control-shift no longer brings up the debug mode. :?

Sorry, we encountered an error while displaying this content. If you're a user, please try again later. If you're an administrator, take a look in your Flarum log files for more information.

The forum track "beta testing" contains item "jv16 PowerTools 2009 (1.9.1.606) available for testing" with recent reports about the Registry Cleaning "Fix button" not functioning. Even debug logs were sent. But unfortunalely no response any more from jv16 on this reported problem.

The latest PT 2009 build improved the issue, some users who experienced the problem no longer experience the problem. But, for some users the issue still exists. We are no longer trying to fix the issue from PT 2009 but focus on fixing the issue from PT 2010.

At the moment the issue still exists in the latest PT 2010 test version but I'm working on with a few testers in attempt to fix it before the public beta testing begins.

Thank you for this clear reply jv16, I guess "trunkles" will appreciate it too.

I just came across it or a similar problem on yet another XP SP3 system. This time, the failure happened about 1/3 way during the fix process. I have a debug log I can send.
