Hi!

I'm trying jv16 PowerTools 2009 v1.9.0.590

and every time I use the Registry Compactor,

I receive this Error window:

Why does it happen?

I run WinXP Pro SP3

It's a well known phenomenon in Registry Compactor.

There are many posts on this forum about it and I guess every user of the PowerTools has the same problem.

It's a fact the tool can't open the Security hive (never).

The issue has been often reported, but so far the developer hasn't / couldn't (?) fix(ed) it.

Note: don't use ImageShack, there's a possibility in the forum software to attach images. Click on "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the new / edit post window.

Hello!

Dont use the registry compactor it has screwed up my computer a couple of times. Had to delete and reinstall some programs that was damaged. And the benefits of registry compacting is doubtful.

It isent worth it!

The Registry Compactor does not modify the contents of the registry in any ways, therefore I do not think it is possible that any programs would stop working simply after using the feature. All the feature does is asks Windows to rebuild the registry storage files, this doesn't in any ways affect the contents of the registry.

I never had problems after running a registry compact program.

I use Registry Compactor on Vista SP2 x64 Business with no problems. Keep in mind that it is always best to close down as many programs as possible and to temporarily disable your security software (EXCEPT your software firewall) prior to running a registry compact. And reboot immediately following the compact.

Hello,

I'm using Registry Compactor regularly on my Windows XP Home / SP3 withouth no problems - no error message about Security hive and never a screwed up system.

Jean-Paul.

I've no problem at all with the Registry Compactor, in both Vista x32 and W7 x64 RC 7100.

I deleted W7 x64 7100 from the hard drive and setup the drive for the final release of W7 x64.
