About halfway through a 750GB HDD (WD7500AAKS), Disk Wiper seems to get very slow and starts giving repeated "Windows - Delayed Write Failed" error messages, either on the drive itself or the jv16_PT000379C5.dat file it's creating. By very slow, I mean 0.01GB written per every few minutes, although the speed currently shows at 15 mb/sec. The wipe/write will take many days at this pace. The first time it did this, while there were still some files showing on the drive, I tried aborting, but eventually had to manually shut down the machine and then boot from the XP CD and run fixboot to get the computer to fully boot with that drive attached (system on another HDD). After formatting the drive, - now no files show except a system related folder - I am trying again, this time only writing free space. But still, the same result. The HDD didn't have any errors when I checked a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas? This is an Athlon 64 system with 2gb RAM.
Btw, Disk Wiper could use a Pause button.
