I recently installed Nero 9 over the top of a Nero 6 OEM version. Because of problems I decided to uninstall. Both versions were listed in Control Panel's Add/Remove screen, so I uninstalled both. I then used Nero's General Clean Tool to remove any left over files and, I assumed, registry entries. Not trusting Nero's General Clean Tool to remove all the registry entries, I decided to use the Registry Cleaner to remove any leftover Nero entries.
The initial registry scan went quickly, however, when the second stage began -- deep analysis of the registry -- the program seemed to hang. I tried this three times, one time leaving deep analysis running for about 1/2 hour, but the progress graph never moved beyond half way. CPU usage eventually dropped to minimal. Even the read light on my computer showed no disk activity. I aborted all the operations.
This time I used the "Results format" settings and un-checked "Use deep analysis." Again, the initial registry scan went quickly, followed by the "Results" window. What appeared were several hundred -- if not more -- entries, most of them Nero entries. I removed these entries by clicking the "Fix" option.
I decided to run the Registry Cleaner one more time to pick up any that I might have missed via a deep analysis scan. This time I checked "Use deep analysis." Both the initial registry scan and the deep analysis quickly finished their tasks. There were no registry errors reported.
I was wondering why the deep analysis phase seemed to stall during the first three times yet worked later ? Or is this a possible bug?
