I have successfully deleted file "cnbabe.dll" from my computer with the help of Norton Antivirus. Unfortunately in the registry it is still an entry that tries to start it (rundll32.exe). How can I fix this problem? I have downloaded Power Tools Lite but it wants to delete so many files from my registry and I don't know whether is causes more problems that it might be of help. What do you think?

Maybe you can run PTLite in "Extended user interface" mode.

Then after clicking "Clean and fix my computer", you can enter "cnbabe" (without quotes) under the tab "Search words".

In the "Settings" maybe you can move the slider to the third dashes (counting from above): that's the "More aggressive than - normal - system scan policy". Windows related data is scanned then, but that doesn't matter because you do a selective scan only for those registry entries referring to the search word "cnbabe".

After all, there is no reason to panic because you can always undo the changes made to the registry with "Undo".

Thanks for your assistance. I tried what you said and Power Tools Lite really found the error in the registry and removed it. But after restart of my computer the entry in the start routine was back again and I had the error message. Seems to me as if cnbabe.dll is a very aggressive troyan. Have you or anybody else an idea what else can be done?

You could try asking Symantec customer support.
