You can download it from here:

And install it over any previous version of jv16 PowerTools 2009. This version contains all the updated code developed during the PT Lite development, a few bug fixes and support for the new licenses with and without VIP/Platinum VIP.

This version should also be fully 64 bit Windows compatible, except that any features using the Browse Folder feature do not work under 64 bit OS.

Please report to this thread if you have any feedback or comments. If everything goes well, this version will be officially released shortly as well.

PT2009 v.1.9.0.569 (prerelease) run on Vista BE (not SP1), Vista HP SP1, and XP Pro SP3 (all 32 bit)

  • 1. Registry Cleaner, structured format -- the automatically expand and select options implemented in PTLite rc1b are not present in PT2009 v.1.9.0.569.

    2. Registry Cleaner, structured format -- some items show incorrect (incomplete) information in detail lines and in the caption area, but Open in RegEdit points to the correct registry item. In PTLite rc1b, the caption area (but not the detail lines) shows the correct information for the same items.

    3. Registry Cleaner, structured format -- when an entry name contains C:\hyberfil.sys or C:\pagefile.sys, the path is red in the caption area.

    4. Registry Manager -- with XP, the last two tabs still show nothing.

    5. Registry Cleaner -- a certain ignore word (jv16) does not ignore some items.

    6. Backup Tool, Custom Restore -- the program does not remember column changes made in a prior PT session.

None of these issues are serious, but 1, 2, and 6 can be annoying.

This is on Vista SP2 RTM x64 Business.

There is a significant discrepancy between the most aggressive registry scan of PT 2009 B569 and PT Lite RC1b. PT 2009 B569 finds 525 errors relating to Invalid ActiveX/DDE/COM/DCOM/DLE and PT Lite RC1b finds none. The attached file shows the keys.

As in PT Lite RC1b, "Export as .reg file" will now work in PT 2009 B569 IF you first select RegEdit and let Regedit open and then manually close Regedit. The attached file was created by this option. You only have to open RegEdit once and the "Export as .reg file" will continue to work reliably throughout the current PT 2009 session.

This is on Vista SP2 RTM x64 Business.

PT 2009 continues to miss MUICache errors. Attached is a competitive scanner which finds these.

I confirm Tullik's findings (1) & (2)

(1). Registry Cleaner, structured format -- the automatically expand and select options are not present in PT2009 v.1.9.0.569.

(2). Registry Cleaner, structured format: Items show incomplete truncated information in detail lines,

Actually the Error Description Column gets truncated (after I widened other columns eg: "Key" column), & can not view it's complete contents (even with the horizontal scroll tab facility)

Btw, I like having the horizontal scroll tab back, but I think this may be part of the problem here.

Best regards,

Roberta

Registry cleaner under Vista x64 sp2

Seems the freeze in registry cleaner is back, analysis goes on to a freeze, this issue was doesn't exists with build 555.

Tried disabling deep analysis which solved this issue in previous builds, but now it doesn't help.

Registry Cleaner

There is at least one issue involving the behavior of the "Never show" and "Control hidden items" features.

There are several symptoms. Here's how to reproduce the most egregious one:

  • 1. Before launching PowerTools, delete or move C:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools 2009\Settings\SuperRegIgnoreList.dat.

    2. Launch PowerTools.

    3. Run Registry Cleaner with the structured results format option.

    4. If the completed results list contains two or more populated error category sections, continue. Otherwise, STOP; you cannot reproduce the issue.

    5. Unselect and expand just ONE of the error categories which contains more then one item. Leave the other categories selected and collapsed.

    6. Right click any detail line in the expanded category and choose Never show again.

    7. Visible result: the clicked line drops from the list.

    8. Right click another detail line in the expanded category and choose Control hidden items.

    9. The resulting "Ignore list editor" window does not contain the item chosen to "never show."

    10. It DOES contain ALL the items from the selected and collapsed categories. WOW!

Relatively minor GUI bug: Help -> Check for updates... displays nothing in the two version number boxes; however, it does display the result text below ("You are currently using the latest version!").

Not confirmed!

Mine shows build 569 as version I'm currently using (= correct) and version 552 as latest version (= correct too, because it's the latest official version. 569 is a "private" release).

Not confirmed here, either. It shows as redseujac stated.
